General Election Parliament question

As we're likely to be facing a GE later this year, I'm wondering who receives the PM at Buckingham Palace in the event that the King is indisposed. Obviously I'm thinking of his current spell of poor health although he does appear to be on the mend. Would it be his Private Secretary or another senior royal, e.g. Princess Anne ? Thanks.

It's one of those weird things about this country but it would fall to Anton Du Beke. As there is no formal written constitution, traditional (stretching back over 600 years) dictates that head Strictly judge would have to step in. Hopefully he won't be needed but good to know there's a safe pair of hands waiting.

you should amend title to clarify this is a royal question. So those of us not least bit bothered about them can avoid

Maybe there isn't a long term plan in place but these things are decided nearer the time.

Has Shirley been deposed then? Shock

Other than that, I'm sure you're spot on, of course.

Great question. Unfortunately it is Anton due to male preference primogeniture still applying to the Strictly judges and definitely nothing to do with my lack of knowledge about the Strictly judging hierarchy. If you want this changed I suggest writing to your local MP.

If the King cannot act one or more senior Royals can be designated to act in his place.

It was done fairly regularly when the old Queen was on tour.

What's all the Strictly Come Dancing malarkey about?

William probably but Charles has recently been seen out and about so maybe he will be well enough

As with all things Roayl, there is a formal prcess for this.

In the event that The King cannot undertake his official duties due to illness or absence abroad, two or more Counsellors of State are appointed by Letters Patent to act in His Majesty's place.

The current Counsellors of State are The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Sussex, The Duke of York and Princess Beatrice.

News outside the UK says there is high level of concern for both cancer patients, especially King Charles, but it "can't" be discussed in the UK.

Could they not get whoever played me in The Crown to stand in?
I doubt anyone would notice, as fact and fiction are blended seemlessly these days, and I would appreciate a bit of time orf.

There have been recent changes to the list of Councellors of State, Edward Duke of Edinburgh and Anne Princess Royal have been added to the list.

This was a convenient way of limiting the likelihood of needing to call upon the Duke of Sussex or the Duke of York.

Personally, I think Anton would do a fine job, and he would certainly look dapper.

Initially I thought you meant Antoine Du Caunes. It wasn't until the Strictly part that I realised I had the wrong Anton.
