Have you lost weight eating carbs?

Hi. I lost a bit of weight eating lots protien and a bit of carbs. Carbs always wholemeal. Really slowed down though. I not been feeling too good the last 2 weeks, feeling a bit sick on and off. Too old to be pregnant. Started to feel better. Just have been eating what I fancy mainly say a meat salad sandwich or plain pasta. Bit of fruit. I gone and lost 7lbs. Has anyone lost weight calorie counting and still eating carbs. Just made me think. Should I just eat less and what I fancy. Thanks.

Yes I still eat carbs but I eat a lot more veg and salad so more of my plate is that with a smaller amount of starchy carbs (even if I eat pasta)

Yes.

i can’t lose weight on a high protein high fat diet. I need carbs or I’m permanently hungry. I have tried many times and end up gaining weight- protein does not fill me up and I can eat my entire daily calorie allowance in one cheese snack, and be starving 10 mins later.

there is research that your gut metabolism and bacteria adapt to a certain diet. Those who were very active as children adapt to burn high amounts of carbs, those more sedentary don’t. Holds true for me at least.

i lose weight simply by eating less and counting calories

Increasing NEAT makes a massive difference too. Life is so sedentary now, I find exercise in itself drives my appetite massively, so making sure I’m on my feet as much as possible, walk to the shop, go for a walk while I’m waiting for kids, walk on treadmill while watching tv and sending emails etc.

I was very active as a child. As an adult I am hypothyroid and put on weight just thinking about starchy carbs.

I lost 18 kg last summer by cutting carbs, I still ate a lot of fruit and veg as I’m fanatical getting my 5 plus a day. I just left out the potatoes/bread/ rice part of a meal.
It was the easiest diet I’ve ever done. I’ve maintained my weight for 6 months.

Delicious carbs! I am well known to polish off 2kg of watermelon in a summer aa a meal😂 at 75p a kg in high season it's super cheap dinner as well😂

Thank you all. Going to give calorie counting a go for a month. See how I go. Try and balance it all ie protien and veg etc but def have carbs. Little and often seems good to me as I tend to get uncomfortable stomach if eat a big meal. Thanks again.

Does anyone remember Rosemary Conley's Hip & Thigh diet? It was very popular for a time and it definitely worked for me when I was a pear-shaped student in the 90s! It was very low-fat but there was no restriction on carbs...

Ohh yes I lost lots doing that and keep fit was good. You could not eat any food could you that was over 5 per 100gs in fat.
