Taking landlord to small claims court

Anyone had any luck? My most recent landlord did not protect my deposit and lied to me about it being protected so they've already broken the law.
When I asked repeatedly to see the certificate/proof I was told it went against the 'confidentiality' of the other housemates, yeah right .

I was told I'd receive my deposit 10 days ago and they told me the payment had already been 'processed' LOL yeah right.
I gave them until the 22nd to provide me some sort of evidence and they ignored it so I informed them I'd be taking them to court. They ignored that too.
The solicitors are working on my case now but I'm worried nothing will come of it. I have proof they did not protect my deposit and therefore broke the law so surely from that alone I'm entitled to a payout of some sorts?

It's disgusting, they never processed any damn payment at all. I'm really angry they've treated me like this and what worries me is that they'll probably do it to other people, especially those who are maybe less experienced in renting.

Has anyone ever managed to win a claim like this?

Not a lawyer but I think you stand a very good chance. If a LL does not use the deposit scheme they are basically screwed and will have to pay you the deposit back plus (I think) the same again. There is no defence.
Of course it may be a long process to actually get the money

Yes, I've checked all deposit schemes as has my solicitor and they confirmed the deposit had never been protected.
Thank you, fingers crossed!
Hopefully, I mean I managed to win a claim against Ryanair but it took 6 months to get there, and I'm still waiting on the money!

Sorry to ignite a thread from the dead....

I'm in court tomorrow with my ex-landlady. 12 months after moving out we still don't have out deposit back. In addition she's made some vile claims against us, and even had DH arrested at one point (NFA as no evidence) and she hasn't submitted a counter claim.

Anyone advise on what I should expect tomorrow?

Sounds awful for you.
I can't comment on any of the other stuff but I DO know that not protecting your deposit has no defence no matter what (she claims) you did. Its pretty black and white on that point
Good Luck
