I want to go to Switzerland...

Walking, hiking, kayaking perhaps, one of those mountain coasters if they are nearby, stunning scenery and just all around peaceful. Definitely want to be near water. Nice food. August bank holiday Friday to Monday. Budget around £1,000 not including spending money but I'd want half board to keep it down.

Where do I go and what's the best way of booking this? It's to mark my 40th and I'll be travelling alone.

Tips and advice welcome 😁

Just googled it. It looks like ginger beer?!

Rivella is a byproduct of the cheese industry so it's a fizzy drink made with the leftover whey after cheese curd production. The rhubarb flavour is especially delicious.

Rubella is made of milk. My DH loves it.

I think it's witchcraft and can't bear to even think about it. It is very Swiss!

It's with TUI. It includes buffet breakfast and a three course meal in the evening so half board but to be honest after the amount of people commenting on how obscenely expensive everything is I'm wondering if it's all to good to be true and I'm missing something! It was £840 for three nights. Including a train transfer. Perhaps I'll get there and they'll say oh you have to pay another grand...

Probably a picnic lunch you make after breakfast. I think it is good price for what is included.

You could doa guided walking holiday with HF holidays.

Thank you x

I'm really going to research this a lot. Interlaken looks fabulous. I'm not overly fussed with the mountain coaster in Grindelwald (not ruling it out completely) but Murren looks like a nice place to visit and I like the idea of going up Harder Kulm on the track and hiking back down. Definitely want to get in that water though and also see those beautiful waterfalls 💕

you should definitely go to grindelwald. take the cable car to first and hike up to mountain top lake. the views are breathtaking.
also since you are in interlaken, you can take a quick boat ride to gissebach falls/hotel. absolutely stunning. as others have said lauterbrunnen is a must. just attaching some pics from my visit. I did feel the ride up to jungfrau was a bit underwhelming as clouds cover the peak and the views were better from grindelwald

Op I imagine it's definitely the price but tui make their money back in other ways, hotel room, quality of food etc

No I doubt there'll be anything to worry about. The cost saving for them will be that you'll fly over with Easyjet no doubt. Plus it's not really a peak season for Swiss people as the kids are back in school. It's a bank holiday August in the UK, but it's not here. 😅

Our holiday in August is on the 1st, Swiss national day.

We did the train to the top of Jungfrau when we were there and it was brilliant. Don't know if it still exists but we got the first, super early train of the day which was cheaper (because so early) but I loved it because it meant we were the first ones there - I was the first person on the peak that day, mine were the first footsteps in the snow 😀. We spent the morning there and by the time we were leaving (I think you had to be off by a certain time, as part of the cheaper ticket) it was so so busy. This was a lot of years ago though so things may have changed.

I did Jungfrau a few years ago. A girl was in the toilet crying with the most appalling sunburn. Was wearing a bra top and she’d been frazzled.

Fabulous though.
