All the time! I don't shave that often and don't always stick a new blade in.

Thanks that's reassuring.

Tetanus lives in soil so it's mainly barbed wire fences and cutting yourself gardening that are risks not rust razors in a cupboard

Tetnus shot lasts 10 years I think.. can you ask pharmacist this? .. when had you your last shot?

Scampuss · 28/04/2024 16:14

Unless you dug it up from the garden, there's no risk of tetanus here!

hourstokill · 28/04/2024 16:16

my husband does it all the time.. mainly because i use a lovely brand new sparkling one for my bits and bobs and then i just leave it!

he's still alive!

but, all joking apart, surely a rusty razor would also be a blunt one?

Well I've never had one as an adult so at least 20 years ago.

I thought tetanus infected you through wounds, so if you didn't cut yourself with the razor, it's fine. That was my understanding of tetanus anyway..

Crinkle77 · 28/04/2024 18:23

As long as you didn't cut yourself you'll be fine.

The first answer on google

If you see rust, it's definitely time to replace your razor blade. Contrary to popular belief, a rusty razor won't give you tetanus, even if you cut yourself with it. Rust itself doesn't cause tetanus — bacteria called Clostridium tetani does. This type of bacteria lives in organic matter, like dead leaves and soil.
