What do you do for work? And how did you get into it? Do you enjoy it?

I'm currently on 30k, have a degree, but hate my job and would really like to significantly increase my earning potential.

You earn £70k as a normal primary school teacher?

Is this normal in Dublin?

Salaries in Dublin are high IME of another sectors, but so is everything else! The cost of housing is eye watering.

OP, if you would still like to care for women, have you considered working as a maternity investigator (given you have relevant opportunities in your current role). These pay around £50k and then you may be able to move up to a managerial position. As someone has also said, a number of MW increase income as specialist support to women in other areas such as massage, hypno birthing, breastfeeding etc etc. Good luck 👍 😉

@Chattywatty this is what I’m thinking should be my next move.

@AvonCallingBarksdale I went in at a PO6 level and found it much more junior than I had expected despite paying well. Look at PO8 - PO10 as a starting point to move sectors even though they’re below where you should be. It does however give you a chance to learn the sector and how it all relates without too much pressure. I wasn’t used to having a huge group of people behind me doing things or the level of writing papers or presentations before you can actually do anything. It all has to be signed off by so many boards

I aiming to get to Asst Director level in the next 3 years or so which will take me towards £100kplus pension

It’s a teaching salary so the salary in Ireland is the same whether you live in the depths of the country or in Dublin .

I just happen to live in Dublin .
