My 8month old came from nursery with a bruised knee

Hi! I am the mum of a 8month old baby. He is my first child and he goes to a nursery 2 days a week. It's rated "outstanding" and he seems to really like the staff. However, on Tuesday he came home with a big bruise on his knee. Nobody mentioned any issues when I picked him up. I want to raise this with them, but I am not sure how to. I am not British and have no clue what should be done. Any help?

Last two weeks we’ve had

21m old

  • bruise on head from the 5ft high door handle he launched himself into as I carried him out of nursery
  • bruise at top of arm from shoving his arm through the table legs (hairpin so funny gap) and pulling it down and getting stucj
  • 4 completely unknown bruises on his legs

newly crawling 9m old

  • similar sounding bruise to yours (two boxes side by side and he wedged his leg In between)
  • bruise on the other leg from doing the exact same thing
  • second bruise on first leg from…you guessed it (at this point the boxes were pushed next to each other)
  • mark his head from crawling into a table leg and just not stopping
  • Carpet burn from face planting the floor

Stuff happens, complete none events happen and they bruise (I’m currently wondering how I got a bruise on my shin that I have no recollection of). It’s life and they’ll be manyyy more

That knee will next be unbruised in the year 2030. At best. Grin

In all seriousness, I've had two babies through nursery, I wouldn't expect to be told about a bruised knee unless they were very upset or something. Head bangs, yes, cuts that need a plaster, yes, anything else that needs first aid, but bruised knees are constant.

If you genuinely think your child is being gripped so hard by staff it’s leaving bruises you’d be neglectful to send him back for even 2 minutes. If you don’t, it’s a terrible accusation to insinuate.

I understand you're a fairly new mum but you need to calm down a bit. Save that energy for when they're fully mobile and throwing themselves down the stairs or off of furniture

I've currently got two bruises either side of my knee, both bigger than a 2p piece and I have no idea how I did them. My knee's really stiff too.
I can reassure my mum if she's reading this that I definitely have not had someone holding my leg tightly.

Honestly he'll get bruises when he's with you that you don't know where they've come from.

Don't be absurd she's a new mum asking for advice online.
