Anyone else had their booking.com account hacked?

I got two emails from booking.com within a minute of each other, saying that my email address on my account has been changed (and showing dodgy email addresses - 2 different ones). The email says, if you didn't request this change, contact customer service here immediately, with a link. But when I click on the link, it just takes me to a page for getting help with bookings. I don't have any bookings!

I did wonder whether the emails were genuine, but they are because now I can't use my email address to log in. And it's impossible to contact booking.com help without logging in. I've eventually found where you can request help, using a booking confirmation number and my PIN. I've searched through old emails and found a confirmation number, but of course I can't remember a PIN!

I'm stuck in this circular trap where I can't inform booking.com that my account has been hacked - because my account has been hacked!! And it's impossible to find a phone number to actually speak to a human being.

I don't have any future reservations, but I am concerned about scammers using my credit card, as the details are saved there. So I've frozen my credit card. But I can't remember whether my debit card details are also on there.

Help!

I’d have the credit card and debit card reported for potential fraud, have them closed and a new ones sent. Tell the fraud customer service for both that your booking.com account was hacked so if any transactions go through there is a note on the file that you’d informed them. Once the payment methods are neutralised, there is no need to worry. I would report it on the action fraud website too so the police can tell booking.com. It is important to file a report because if they get a lot of reports all on booking.com, the police will have words with the company head office to take steps on security.

Thanks, I did phone my credit card provider to explain and asked if they could block any potential transactions from booking.com but they said they can't do that. I'm a bit reluctant to cancel the cards, but will probably have to, thanks.

Yeah, they can’t block them. The notice is just for any that happen before the cards are closed and replaced. It’s easy for the credit card company and bank to do. Usually your new cards are delivered by either next day or second day post.
