Anyone else find it really hard to start things and then to stop or switch jobs?

I find it really difficult to get started with things so say I need to do some admin or clear out a cupboard I'll faff about and then only get down to it last minute and I'll get it done (kind of) but not very well. I also though have problems once I get into doing something stopping, this wasn't such a problem when I lived alone as I would often just pull all-nighters to get something done but now I live with my partner I find I have to stop what I am doing to have lunch or dinner or go out or go to bed at reasonable time, which I know is better for me. I get frustrated though as it feels like the only way I can get anything done is to just eventually get started and then just keep at it until it is done. If I have to stop it takes me forever to get back into it.

I wish I could be like people who can just get on with a task, do it for a couple of hours then stop and switch to do something else, I find that really hard!

Any tips to improve on this?

This is an ND trait, related to executive dysfunction. Do you have any other ND traits? Of course its possible you could just struggle with this, but likely you have some other things you struggle with.

@Ratfan24 I had a diagnosis of dyspraxia at school but it never made much sense to me as I am actually highly dexterous and excel at things like art, music and dancing. I think they knew I wasn't quite normal but I don't think I fitted any one thing. I do think I have executive function issues.

Any idea on how to fix it?

Yep. You’re probably adhd ❤️

ADHD

@Sauvblanctime Any advice on how to improve this? I am not a candidate for stimulants or many psychoactive drugs due to a neurological condition.

@Sauvblanctime Thank you, not sure if I can do this in Scotland but I will look into it.
