Slow cooker help

Hello,

I can't seem to get a straight answer for this on Google! So I usually use my slow cooker for things like stews, soups and other liquidy things. Tomorrow I want to just cook some chicken breasts it and the recipe does not call for stock - can I cook the raw chicken with no liquid (there will also be diced bacon in there) or do I need to add water? Either for safety reasons or to prevent dry as a bone chicken. Some websites say you need nothing and others saying you need at least a cupful to create steam.

Thanks

I did 3 large chicken breast in my slow cooker last week .
I thinly sliced about 7 or 8 mushrooms put a layer of them down 1st then the chicken then the rest of the mushrooms on top . The
water in the mushrooms stops them sticking to the base / sides of the cooker and stops the tops from drying out.
You can sub the mushrooms for tomatoes or peppers . Which ever you use it can be chopped up and mixed with the meat and sauce.
No liquid is needed at all, there is enough in the chicken, bacon and veg.

For anyone who's interested here's what I decided on and did before I went out this morning - olive oil and oregano on the breasts, wrapped in tinfoil and put it in the slow cooker with about 1cm of water on the base. Fingers crossed this will not produce dry chicken and it will be ready to shred when I get home.
