Swimming top - making body colder or warmer in swimming pool?

DC is always shivering whenever he's outside the pool waiting for his turn in the class. I saw some boys wear a swimming top.

So does a swimming top keep the body warmer when outside the pool?

If it's wet it will make you colder.

Unless it is made of neoprene it will make him colder. Rash vests which I assume is what the other boys are wearing are really to protect against the sun and ti stop wetsuits rubbing once they are wet they just trap cold water next to the skin. Best way to stay warm is to keep your shoulders underwater. Do they have to sit on the side between goes or can they stay in and hold onto the side?

There are actual swim tops around. Unisex at a young age, surf related at slightly older and up to adult. There’s also modestly swimwear - not just for women. As a surfer, I’ve never worn a rash vest just under a wetsuit. I prefer modesty type swimwear. I definitely could buy swim t shirts for the DC when he was younger

Yes but they don't keep you warmer.

Unfortunately they can't stay in water, as the pool is quite deep.

Well, I thought better to have no top to be less cold. DC1 wasn't bothered too much, but DC2 the little poor frame was shaking violently once out of water. So that's what made me think...

Thanks, everyone. Guess he will just have to manage.
