Junior park run with a buggy

Any park run volunteers/ parents on here… Hoping someone will know the answer! Have googled with no luck.

If I take my six year old to junior park run, can I run alongside her with her baby brother in the buggy?

Also, can two parents run with their one child?

Thanks 😊

Parents can accompany their children running; just avoid going into the finish funnel at the end as timekeepers often count bodies going through.

Check the course description of the specific website to see if it's suitable for a buggy.
Ours generally is, but we've had mud issues over the winter so the grass has been harder work than usual.

Our park run allows buggies but they have to be at the back. I don’t take my son along in the buggy as it would frustrate my daughter to have to go more slowly. Both parents can run if they want, but only the child crosses the finish line

Thank you for your responses!

So my daughter’s dad could run with her and I could run behind with the buggy? X

That should be fine. The main thing is not to get in the way of the actual runners. Or you could volunteer. Our junior parkrun needs loads of marshals because it's such a wiggly course (need a line of sight along the whole course).

How old is the baby and is it a running buggy? Be a bit careful if the baby is young or it's a normal buggy as they get jolted around. There's a minimum age but I can't remember what it is

Check the course description - if on grass, then running with a buggy can be tricky.

Adults can only run if accompanying a child, and adults must not go through the funnel

You cannot barcode someone under the age of 4 (great shame - I was going to do this as a new baby gift, but restrained myself)

Buggy runners are meant to seed themselves appropriately (so when you don't know what the field of runners is like, start at the back and work out over time if there's a more suitable place)

If you're both going to run, then I think it's better if you both run with your DC. What would be brilliant if you're both going is if you have one running and one volunteering, and swop it round each week so you take turns.

Entirely depends on the course. At one near me it’s across fields and it would be tricky, frankly.

it would be unusual but not unheard of for two parents to run with a child. Just don’t go in the funnel.

It's when your baby can comfortably hold their head, so it doesn't flop around with any jolts

Rule of thumb is 6-9 months, but you can get outliers in either direction
