Looking for advice. Electric or manual? Any other things I need to buy ?

I didn’t buy anything special.

My son had train tracks for 4 years - over Covid and he was meticulous about his tooth brushing, he had a manual brush and just made sure he didn’t eat anything that might damage them and cleaned after eating - min 2 mins, braces are off now and his teeth are really lovely straight and white. His top teeth his eye teeth protruded and he didn’t like that and the bottom were wonky so no major issues ( I had major orthodontic work and surgery) he always took painkillers on tightening days as he found it really uncomfy.

20-ish years since I had train tracks but I presume they haven't changed that much! I used an electric brush & those interdental ones to get in between the gaps too.

DS is getting his after his GCSEs. Our dentist said electric tooth brushes are best for everyone but particularly with train tracks. DS uses flossers and pics now but won't be able to once the braces are on.

Get an oral irrigator.

Waterpic water flosser. Daughter had one with her braces and it made a huge difference!

Thanks for this, I'm getting a water flosser for DD now, she's doing well with her interdentals but you have inspired me.
Weird question but could DH & I borrow it & use too? Or would that be really unhygienic?

I had train tracks many years ago and I was advised to clean the front with a baby brush. The soft bristles got in about the metal and was gentle for when they'd just been tightened. My teeth looked great when they came off!

My dd had all these bloody stupid little brushes: TePe interdental in various sizes

dementedpixie · 21/04/2024 18:26

Dd used an electric toothbrush and those little interdental brushes for underneath the wire and between the teeth

We all still use and share it! Just rinse the jet heads after use. I even put a little bit of mouthwash into the water to get that minty fresh fell!! 😂

  • feel, not fell!!
