Elderly friend being taken advantage of?

She’s a friend of a friend, very rich, currently in a nursing home in her 80s. She has no relatives who live near her or she has any real contact with. She was living independently till recently and had my friend who she’d meet for coffee or dinner, and 2 paid carers and a lawyer who lives elsewhere wi looked after the money.

my friend has seen emails that show elderly friend is giving £1000s of pounds to one of the carers for things like medical treatment, a car, holidays.

my friend doesn’t know what to do as elderly friend is frail but sound in her mind, can afford the money and has always been generous. She’s offered my friend money before, 1000s, but my friend always laughed it off.

Any attempts to talk to elderly friend about it are like talking to a brick wall apparently.

Any carer should not be taking money. Report this to the employer. If it continues then it’s the police.

The elderly friend employs her directly.

How can she employ this carer directly if she is in a nursing home?

You could contact adult social services of her local authority and speak to someone who deals with vulnerable adults.

Report to Adult Social Services.

If you knew who she banked with you could inform them and they will monitor her outgoings maybe??
