A “stolen” delivery question!

I ordered some jewellery from Accessorize. To be delivered to my DD’s flat. (Her boyfriend works from home so can take in deliveries) Evri delivered to a B and B across the road, an error by Evri and not because no one was home to take delivery at DDs place.

DD tried a couple of times to collect but no one answered. Today her boyfriend went across to try, to be told that the parcel had been thrown away! And when he said could he look in the bins the older lady said the younger lady there had opened it and taken the items to a charity shop! WTAF?! It was only delivered on Thursday! The items are worth £60 and are a birthday present.

I wonder what should I do? Some advice would be great please!

How did you know it went to the B&B?

Anyway, ultimately it is the responsibility of the company you purchased the item from. You have not received the item you have purchased - the reason for that is irrelevant and is their problem. Contact them and ask for a replacement or a refund. And if they suggest you contact the courier - refuse and quote the Consumer Rights Act 2015 - it’s up to them to sort it out.

You contact Accessorize and inform them that the parcel has not been delivered. It’s up to them to sort.

Thank you for your reply.

Evri had sent a delivery notification with the GPS and a photo of the B and B. Also they admitted it had been received and opened.

I am just really shocked. I've taken in parcels for my neighbours before, I would never consider opening it! It seems like even getting a parcel delivered is hit and miss these days!

Agree with the above, your contract is with Accessorize not Evri. They need to replace or refund, this is their problem, although no doubt they'll try to pass it on to you.
Stand firm and if necessary take it up with your bank/payment provider.

Thank you all!

They should tell the idiots in the B&B the police have been contacted.

it's illegal to open post in someone else's name, and to take someone elses'post.

That should put the wind up then.

babythinktwice · 20/04/2024 14:59

I feel really cross about it and I am tempted to suggest that irridescantshimmer!

Not to hijack your thread, but evri do this to me a lot- especially when ordering from next for some reason.
Last time I had had enough so complained - the items totalled £70 and they refunded and even gave me £10 as a goodwill gesture. Over a week later and the neighbour brought the parcel round yesterday, so now I need to ring up next and explain.
I need to return the items anyway - they were a present for my sisters little ones birthday and I got something else once the delivery didn't show up. I will also choose click and collect next time, but it's so bloody frustrating.

In this case the neighbours have admitted to theft really. I would tell accessorise everything you know and push for a refund.

Tell Accessorise and demand a refund or replacement. Ensure delivery companies know never to deliver anyone else parcel to the b&b again. And post a box of shit to the b&b as revenge.
