Can I have some help with Disney world Florida please?

Cockapoopoopoo · 20/04/2024 12:55

We have the opportunity to go to Florida in may half term. We want to do a single day at Disney as we only have the week and want to do lots of other things. The UK website only allows booking for 7 or 14 days though 😬 I've found some other websites where you can book a day and it's coming out at £500 for two adults and a 5 year old. I've stupidly already told DD about this before researching, I thought it would just be a simple theme park trip!

The websites also don't allow adding of extras like fast passes from what I can see.

Can I please ask for your tips and tricks when planning a visit? What websites did you use? How far in advance did you book and are there any secret discounts to be found anywhere?

TIA

I would just pay on the door. I’m sure it wouldn’t be that expensive.

It will be.
We've been to Florida a few times, not for a while. But we did price up going to a Disney park for a day last time and it was about £350/400 for a single day for 4 of us, this was when we shld have gone in 2020.

Sorry no advice, its v expensive not sure you can get round that!

UpTheAnte · 20/04/2024 13:05

I don't think it's possible to buy on the door anymore.
1 day tickets are available from some websites eg.
www.orlandoattractions.com/tickets/best-disney-world-tickets-worldwide/1-day-tickets have 1 day tickets.
www.undercovertourist.com/orlando/1-day-disney-magic-kingdom-theme-park-ticket/
I've heard that the disney website only allows US ISP's to book a single day, never tried it myself so no idea if that's accurate.

It was $60 each 25 years ago! (dc were free as under 3) doesn't surprise me they are $160 or so each now. It's $60 if you are a Florida resident apparently

Cockapoopoopoo · 20/04/2024 13:29

Oh I definitely won't try at the door, you can't even do that at the natural history museum during school hols anymore

I accept it will be expensive but I wonder what websites others used to get their tickets?

My only advice would be that one day is nowhere near enough, it’s huge.

YourSnugHazelTraybake · 20/04/2024 13:34

They do still sell on the door strangely enough ! Single day prices start at about £120 ish per person ( prices vary according to season). You can buy direct from Disney using a vpn and The Disney.go.com website. There's also undercover tourist that sell single day tickets for uk guests, they're very well respected and I've personally used them myself. You'll need to decide which park you want to go to as the tickets will be park specific, and also the date you want. You can pay more for a ticket that will let you 'hop' between parks, but for just one day it's probably not worth doing.

GoingOnHol · 20/04/2024 13:36

Undercover tourist on a US VPN, you can't book single days as a rule from the UK
which park are you going to? @Doseofreality is right that it's huge so you can only do one per day as a rule, especially with a 5 year old.
You'll be walking prob 10 miles in a day!

DaysofHoney · 20/04/2024 13:37

We were there last year. Undercover Tourist and Florida Tix were great. The latter website was easier to use and tickets arrived by post, the customer service team were great too.

Of all the parks, I’d personally choose EPCOT - it has a really nice mix of rides. Unless you want the traditional Disney experience at Magic Kingdom (but personally our kids found the rides dated there).

EverybodyLTB · 20/04/2024 13:41

Can’t help re tickets as we had a deal on 7-14 days, any other stuff I could help with, though! Like pp said, not sure a day would touch the sides. What other stuff do you want to do when you’re there? Are you staying close to Disney?

Cockapoopoopoo · 20/04/2024 15:04

We will stay in Orlando for a few days but will travel.around, it's not a Disney focused trip at all,we've already looked at the park itself and planned priorities of what we would do. There's always a possibility of going back in future if we wanted to do more of the parks.

OP posts:
EverybodyLTB · 20/04/2024 16:29

Are you flying into and out of Orlando? Space centre is amazing, so much to do around that whole area. Not sure if you’ve been before but FYI Florida is so massive, be careful in your planning to reduce it down - also parking at Disney is expensive. We did Ubers when we were there and when I cross referenced with the car/parking/quote I saved about 50% costs by getting driven everywhere. I would also look at potentially flying into Orlando and out of Miami. If you are driving, go into Orlando, do Disney by Uber, get a car the next day and go to space centre and go down the coast. Miami is fab.

HermioneWeasley · 20/04/2024 16:43

Walt Disney world is 4 separate parks. Which one have you chosen?

you can buy tickets at the gate or lots of places will sell tickets when you get there - many hotels, shops like Walmart. But yes, it’s around $100 per person per day. The multi day tickets sold in the UK are heavily discounted by comparison

parking is $30/day now.

OrigamiOwls · 20/04/2024 17:02

I've used attractionticketsdirect before for park tickets.

But as @HermioneWeasley says, Disney World is 4 separate parks (+2 water parks, + shopping/entertainment district + etc). You'll barely be able to do one park in a day, nevermind all 4. Do you plan to go to Magic Kingdom, or one is the other 3?

ouch321 · 20/04/2024 17:09

There was a thread here a few weeks back from someone in the parks at the time saying what a rubbish time she was having as they were queuing for up to 4(!!!) hours per ride...

DoneAdulting · 20/04/2024 17:11

Your other questions have been answered.

Fast Passes are now called Genie Plus. You pay a one off fee after midnight on the day you want to go. It's about $25 per person. You then make your first ride selection at 07:00. The next one you can select 2 hours after park opening, and then every two hours or each time you've checked in to a ride.

If you're doing Magic Kingdom, the newest ride, Tron, is virtual queue only which you have to join at 07:00 or you will not be able to ride.

We go twice a year and will be there in May half term too. I'd recommend watching a You Tube video that explains Genie Plus.

thanKyouaIMee · 20/04/2024 17:12

If you're doing one day, you can buy one day tickets - either on the website mentioned above, on the door or a day or two before from the ticket centre in Disney springs! Prices we find normally $140-170 per person, per day. If you're going for one day only, get genie plus. Watch some YouTube videos and join a fb group or two to get clued up on it - genie plus will be an extra $30 ish per person per day, but allows you to book "lightening lanes" which are lines that skip most of the queue. It's the best bet for not spending all day queueing, especially if you're wanting to do the popular rides. Tactics will depend on which park you want to visit!

Frogamore · 20/04/2024 17:27

Last time we went we used Orlando attractions for day tickets, we only wanted to go to Hollywood Studios for the day. It was around £600 for 4 adults and one child. It’s crazy compared to the 14 day passes which work out much cheaper per day. You would only really have time in one day to do one park.

Cockapoopoopoo · 20/04/2024 18:31

Sorry I should have clarified we only plan on doing magic Kingdom, I wasn't thinking I would do multiple theme parks one day. Thanks this has been really helpful, we will do the genie passes, worth it for one day I think so we don't waste time

Yeah, she's gone right in the middle of Spring Break, which is literally the worst time to go (possibly only second to NYE)

lasopine · 20/04/2024 18:50

We just did 3 days at the Disney Parks over Easter. DH bought thr tickets in advance from Undercover Tourist. We did Epcot, Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios and we found we covered enough of the parks in one day each. My dcs are 5 and 2 so there is quite a bit they can't do with height restrictions, so we didn't cover everything. Personally I felt MK would be best if doing just one park, a lot of the rides are tame but that suited our toddler. We had a disability pass which works similar to the Genie Plus. We didn't find the queues bad at all. We had a travel stroller for our 5yo - most parents seem to have them for under 7s. It's a big area to cover by foot otherwise, and sometimes you end up retracing steps to catch the shorter queues.

BeckyWithTheGoodHair010101 · 20/04/2024 19:15

If you're only going for the day, I'd suggest going to Universal Studios / Islands of Adventure.
Disney is massive. You won't even see one of the parks in a day to be honest!

theeyeofdoe · 20/04/2024 19:24

Download some IPN hiding software like tunnel bear and then you can buy a 1 day ticket via the US Disney site.
you then can add it to a Disney account.
Memorial Day is that week so the first weekend will be busy even with genie plus. So avoid 24th-28th.
what else are you planning?
