How long does it take to overcome chocolate addiction?

Last time I tried to cut out chocolate I was still craving it after 3 months when I succumbed! I am trying again and have good will power but still crave it all the time!

Diet is very healthy other than the chocolate/chocolate biscuits so no takeaways, no alcohol, only home cooked food and I dont like cakes, puddings, crisps, junk so no issue there. BMI is slightly underweight so am not doing it to lose weight but in the hope it helps autoimmune diseases. I can cut chocolate totally (although it is misery) but cant ration it so that isnt an option!

Have you tried swapping to dark chocolate? 75% or more

I havent. Should that be better for auto immune conditions? I guess I shouldnt want to eat much of it as I dont really like it. With normal chocolate I crave it all day!!

Took me about 4 months but then I had one after about 8 months and the cravings are back! Agh!

Dark chocolate in small amounts is said to be good for you. If you could limit yourself to one or two squares a day, that wouldn’t be too bad.

It’s a nightmare isn’t it! I have to go almost cold turkey. If I do have some, make sure I don’t have any the next day. And focus on smoothies / treats made with whole foods and raw cacao.

For me it's sugar craving and chocolate is my favourite sugar based treat. I have found cutting down wheat seems to help, if I eat bread I crave chocolate. I've switched to oat bread I make myself and try to reduce refined cards and this really helps. I'm starting to believe coffee is part of the issue too. I used to think it was psychological, coffee and a treat but now I believe its physical too. I was doing OK and allowed myself an easter egg at Easter but then ate 3 and have been struggling since. Yesterday I caved twice and bought 2 bars in different shops at different times. I'm determined to be chocolate free today and for the next week. So bloody hard. I gave up cigarettes years ago and it was easier for me.
