How much of a necessity is having a car where you live?

That is four times bigger than the market town I am in now.

How is a “village” defined?

Edited

Often by historical merit and snobbery. 😉😂

I can name a town (population 12,000) and a village (population 11,000). Mind you, guess which one has the public transport...

Warrington (population 100,000 and 200,000 within its borough) is still a town not a city. (This one has become a personal pet peeve tbh over how many smaller places have 'jumped the queue' over becoming a city).

Well I can easily get to work 5 miles away on public transport as I work 8-2.30

OH works 3.9 miles 6-6 and definitely needs a car

I lived somewhere once with two supermarkets, two secondary schools, three primary schools and a shopping centre where the easiest way to start an argument was to call it a town rather than a village 🤣

It had quite a good transport system too, but then it would with a population of 40k...

Necessity - there's only one bus an hour where I live. And it takes 2 buses and over an hour to make it to the nearest train station.
