Possible implant, any experience?

Tooth has broken, not much of it left above the gum line to extract. How will they get it out? 🫤

Dentist said previously I'll need either a false tooth or an implant.

What questions do I need to ask him?

How will they know if the bone will be good enough for the implant?

He said 'if' it takes, it will last forever & if it doesn't, then it will have to be done again. 🫤

They'll know about the bone from x-rays. I've got three and they're brilliant and worth every penny I paid for them.

Oh thanks for replying. What sort of time span did it take from start to finish?

Whereas my incredibly expensive, right at the front of my face, implant is appalling.
It looks like a joke shop tooth and causes me a whole lot of pain. The NHS bridge I had previously was far, far better. I was talking to someone the other day who’s implant has failed and she was in tears and is looking at another 18 months (following a bone graft) before they can try again. The dentist said she was ‘just one of the unlucky ones’.
I wish I had never had mine done and now I’m too terrified to have anyone look at it it case things turn out worse.

Couple or three months as I remember. Had a really efficient dentist, it wasn't pleasant but virtually every appointment was less stressful than I anticipated and once they were finished it was great. I've had them about four years now totally trouble-free.
Good luck OP.

OK reading the other poster, mine are all back teeth maybe this makes a difference maybe they are more successful generally? I don't know.

It's nerve-wracking, thinking about the procedure. 😬

Mine's an upper molar, 3 along from my front tooth.

It so is nerve wracking! I hate going to the dentist, although I don't make a fuss and I suck it up. But honestly it wasn't that bad. Some of the appointments were quicker and easier than getting a filling, and (as I remember it) the last one was a piece of piss and then I swanned out with my new teeth! It's worth it.
