Holiday recommendations please, before my husband divorces me for taking too long to pick!

I need the hive mind help here! We've been looking for a holiday for a while now and I'm being indecisive and I need to go to my husband with ideas now because he can't be bothered with my faffing now!
Requirements are:
Not too long a flight (3hrs ish) as it is our kids first flight (DC ages 6 and 5).
Temperature in the mid to high 20s in June (backed out of booking gran canaria last night because average day time temps only 20degrees according to Google)
Near a beach (10 mins walk)
All inclusive with good options for fussy kids (don't care if they eat pizza every day as long as they can eat something!)
Able to walk to the town, marina, harbour, strip of restaurants etc. Don't need much but just a little something to do.
And the big one, hotel must have a great pool for kids including small to medium sized slides/splash park.
Plus ideally the kids will have a separate room within the hotel room to sleep in, don't mind if it's the living space and they are on sofa beds. We want to be able to put them to bed and sit on the balcony, not have to go to bed with them.
Oh and budget of up to £3k.

Any recommendations would be gratefully received! We haven't been abroad in around 8 years and it was not this difficult then when we only had ourselves to think of.

If you're struggling with the decision making rather than finding hotels to suit your criteria, try making a simple excel spreadsheet. I do this for every holiday and then send to DP for his thoughts. I include departure airport, flight times, trip advisor rating (and also look through the reviews), cost and notes of particular interest (water park, kids club, pizza station, how close the beach is etc).

It might help the decision making a bit.

I recommend Majorca Cala D’Or. Mediterranean Sea a lot warmer than Atlantic.
So much to occupy young people in Cala D’Or,safe ,beautiful and friendly. There will definitely be hotel with slides etc.

I highly recommended alfagar aparthotel in albufeira. We’ve been there 4 times, there’s 4 complexes there, there’s somewhere around 12 pools, 2 of them have water slides for the kids. They have 2 indoor pools and one covered pool (it’s like swimming in a giant conservatory) apartments are bigger than anywhere I’ve stayed before and absolutely spotless. We’re going somewhere else on holiday this year and my kids cried when I told them. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the strip and a taxi journey to the old town. There’s a beach at the complex that’s usually quiet as it belongs to the hotel.

Have a look at Insotel Punta Prima Resort and Spa in Menorca via Tui. Your budget should get you a week there easily in June.

We were in Lanzarote last May and it was c26 degrees each day, Gran Canaria.
Stayed at the Iberostar Playa Blanca, gorgeous hotel but could be out of your budget.
We're going to the Iberostar Bouganville in Costa Adeje in May, looks to have great pools and gets good reviews on facebook.

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 18/04/2024 14:35

We've also stayed at the Iberostar Club Cala Barca in Majorca which was lovely but you might not like the transfer as was c2hrs, if not more

Highly highly recommend Seabel Alhambra resort and spa in Tunisia. Ticks every single box apart from the slides BUT the animation team are second to none (incredible with kids!). We went last year, my son was 5 and he had the time of his life!

FrenchandSaunders · 19/04/2024 05:36

@NeedthatFridayfeeling we stayed at the
bouganville last year. Lovely hotel.

Gran Canaria will be bloody hot in June! Like pp said, i think what you’ve read is combination of day and night average.

i’ve just googled with weather today and it’s already 21 during daytime.

Bjorkdidit · 19/04/2024 06:16

But the Med is likely also bloody hot in June.

Playa Blanca Lanzarote daytime temp 24 C, sea temp 20.6 C

Palma Mallorca daytime temp 24.8, sea temp 21.6 C

In my experience, the Med is warmer than the Canaries in the summer but the Canaries are warmer than the Med between about October and March/April.

I know the Canaries are nearer the equator, but you also have to account for them being out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, whereas the Med is a smaller sea that behaves more like a big lake (tiny tides, less current moving heat away).

Both reliably hot and sunny between about June and September, certainly compared to UK.

The weather in Playa Blanca during the month of June is generally warm and very dry.

Zafiro Menorca in Cala n Bosch
We took DS at 5 and it was perfect, lovely weather (we were end of May), great pirate ship pool, close to the Marina, beaches.
Recommend the beach at Cala Blanca and a trip to Cuitadella- you can get the bus.

Have you considered Greece? About 3hr flight, lots of all inc options, fab beaches. We like Corfu, but I have heard Crete is lovely too. I would have suggested IKOS resorts but unfortunately you would need more budget, but they are truly amazing hotels, with excellent all inc. and service and so much for kids, from bikes, sports, clubs etc. would recommend without hesitation for a special holiday. Just be aware that Greece has raised the tourist tax recently, the nightly tax is charged by star rating of accommodation, so IKOS 5 star, used to be €4 per night, now it’s €10. Have a great holiday, wherever you choose OP.

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 19/04/2024 09:21

Thanks @FrenchandSaunders that's good to hear, very much looking forward to it!

FrenchandSaunders · 19/04/2024 13:23

@NeedthatFridayfeeling don’t be put off by the British looking ‘strip’ at front of hotel when you arrive. I was disappointed and thought we had made a mistake but if you go out the side of the hotel and head to the sea there are some fab little restaurants and bars along to the right with amazing views.
