Didn't appreciate her talent when she was alive. I think the drama overshadowed it for me. Now, when I hear her music I quite like it and feel sorry for such a loss. Hope she is at peace. Yes, will watch the movie, but only when it's streaming. Two little ones at home, so it's difficult to get out atm.

I was going to see it but it turns out the director is a groomer. Groomed a teenage boy when she was in her 40s apparently. She knew him from age 6 and when he turned 18 she started shagging him and made him cut contact with his parents. So I won’t be watching any of her films. No idea why film studios are still giving her jobs!

According to most information, they met when he was 18?

......................

Taylor-Johnson began a relationship with Nowhere Boy actor Aaron Johnson after meeting on the 2009 set of the film when he was 18 and she was 42.

The couple announced their engagement at the film's premiere in October 2009.They married at Babington House, Somerset, on 21 June 2012 and both took the surname Taylor-Johnson.

............

The two met while working on her directorial debut ― a 2009 John Lennon biopic called Nowhere Boy ― when the actor was in his late teens and she was in her early 40s.

Even at 18 that’s still gross. 18 is a teenager.

18 is an adult. I would say making a statement that she knew him from age 6 and groomed him when he was underage, then putting it on a public forum is libellous, unless you have proof?

Catastropher · 16/04/2024 11:26

Honestly get over yourself, it’s all over the news and multiple forums.

The allegation that she met him aged 6 and is a groomer is libellous. I would suggest you request Mumsnet delete your post.

As for the film, I was thinking of going to see it as I loved Amy’s music - her voice was sublime and she was a lyrical genius. However it has been absolutely panned (see Evening Standard review for example). I have heard that it paints Blake as a saint and effectively Amy as the sinner so I have no desire to watch anything that further tarnishes her memory.

Nicetobenice7 · 16/04/2024 12:00

It's a sad story ..definitely had an addictive personality

I adore Amy. Loved her music and still do. Back in 2007 I was a student and really struggling myself with alcohol, mental health including eating disorders. Her music helped me so much back then. I loved her style just everything about her. I will watch the film on my own very likely, leave the kids with their dad. Mum's trip to the cinema.

I loved this film when I saw it on Friday. I felt so sad afterwards though. Poor Amy

You're very scratchy for a forum?

Do You have a personal interest?

princesspadam · 16/04/2024 12:41

I always felt she was overrated

If she hadn't passed away I think she would be a nobody now

Not seen the film, but bbc two did a programme called ' my life in ten pictures' ( or something like that ) about celebrity photos and Amy's one was great. It might still be on I player.
Her friends are convinced that things changed for her a lot once she met Blake , so trying to make him good is a bit off, but that might be because his still around and they have to be careful ( but don't know)
Back to black is one of my favorite albums , but it's a grim listen and she was in a bad place for much of her life ;( so sad.

PutOnYourRedShoesAndLetsDance · 16/04/2024 12:49

Yes l want to see it.. but will wait for it to be available on Netflix or whatever.. l don't like the cinema.. hate sitting with strangers.

Bodyshame1980 · 16/04/2024 12:51
