How to get rid of ear wax in 10 year old?

Ds wears hearing aids which have the side effect of excess ear wax, which then block the hearing aid tubes. I normally clean his ears by getting him to lie down in a warm bath with his ears under the water or using the shower. But we saw the ent Dr today and after hoovering out his ear wax said that we should be keeping his ears dry. Any tips on how to keep excessive ear wax under control without getting his ears wet.

What did the ENT DR say to do instead?

I personally pull stuff out of my dd's ears with tweezers, but I am fully aware this is a massive no no!

Try Olive oil.

I know someone in a similar situation and their ent department offer a regular prophylactic ear suction service. So she goes 3 or 4 times a year whether she has a problem or not and they suction her ears…..can you ask about that?

Thank you. The ent Dr said about keeping his ears dry literally as we were leaving so I didn't get the chance to ask how to clean his ears without getting them wet. They don't offer ear hoovering appointments unfortunately, although they will hoover his ears when he's already seeing ENT so they can see his ear drum properly. He is supposed to be going back to ENT in 6 months but with the way the waiting list are I would imagine it will be more like 9 months. I've used olive oil in his ears before but I thought that would count as getting his ears wet.

Did the olive oil help?
