Go cheap on a toothbrush?

Hello!! After years of always using expensive oral B electric toothbrushes, mine’s bust. I was going to buy another expensive oral B one online. But the choice is overwhelming! Plus, while I searched, I noticed some much cheaper versions online that seem to be highly rated.

soooo, my exciting qu: do you have a non-oral B (perhaps unknown brand?) electric toothbrush you like, and if so, what is it?

I’d quite like to save some money, but I keep hearing my mums words in my ears, something about spending money is worthwhile when it comes to looking after your teeth and feet….

THANKS!!

I have an ordo toothbrush and think it’s pretty good. Never had an oral b one tho I don’t think so can’t compare !

I was in the same boat OP I spoke to my dentist who suggested sticking with oral b rather than switching to Philips sonicare if I liked the feeling of fresh cleaned teeth. So I decided to go with an oral b but a less fancy one as frankly I don't need all the bell and whistles. I waited till they went on offer at boots 😂.

I’ve just got a new Oral B and it has made a difference. Mind you, I have trouble with my teeth, so I need to hang on to them if possible.

Thanks both! Am wondering why the fancy oral B ones are soooo expensive, and whether it’s worth it. Which led me to wonder if oral b are worth it fullstop. Even the replacement heads are soooo expensive. My dentist is also pretty wedded to oral b, tho tbf he gave me the oral b advice about 20 years ago, before Amazon etc !

I used Philips Sonicare for and loved them, but they only lasted 12-18 months (even the fancy, £120 on offer, ones). I couldn't justify a third, so have an off-brand one from Amazon.

It's not as good. But it's like 20% of the price and maybe 80% as good. Dentist still said my teeth were fine.

I asked my dentist about this recently because my sonicare was playing up and it would be £200 to replace with the same model.

He said there is absolutely no need to spend that much and around £30/£40 is perfectly adequate. He also said that the rotating head vs sonic head is really just a preference thing - he didn't recommend one over the other, and that he uses one type and his dentist wife uses the other.

I ended up getting an Ordo Lite and I actually prefer it to the sonicare - it's slimmer, holds charge for ages and also charges via a regular USB rather than an irritating glass or stand.

Oral B basic ones are often on offer on amazon and tesco for£40ish. We have had ours years, probably 7 or 8 years now and so going strong. I get the snide heads on amazon fire about 50p each. Never noticed a difference
