I’m sure you can check the listings yourself.

MistyBerkowitz · 14/04/2024 22:55

I’m actively hostile to football, but I married a sad Arsenal fan, and gave birth to another. I forbid all such conversation.

Marchintospring · 14/04/2024 23:04

Football is a dull game. Literally just kicking a ball towards a goal.

Rugby is a billion times more interesting. Games are won or lost moments before the end. Every size and shape can be good. And it's beer in the stands mixed crowds, lots of banter and no violence.

@Marchintospring tell me you didn't see Sarmiento's 97th minute winner against Southampton without telling me Wink

My DH, DS and MIL all travelled for three hours in each direction to attend the Liverpool match today. Luckily they had the journey home to get over it before I had to see them!

no I didn't . Obviously a magic moment. 😁

DS is a sad Liverpool fan. I’m slightly relieved that we were on the members’ ballot waiting list for tickets and narrowly missed out! It was something DS was unhappy about but on reflection it wouldn’t have been a game he wanted to see!

So you can't then, obviously because what you said is complete nonsense.

I remember reading about two women went on holiday together during the Euros because their husbands were both mad football fans and they wanted to get away from all the obsessive football chat and match watching.

They went to Greece - who won the tournament that year!

Not live but I did see Downes' 99th minute winner (definitely not a handball from a corner that definitely was a corner and also was not over the allotted extra time)

Flower35214 · 15/04/2024 08:53

@checkedshirts he's an Ipswich lad, so I'll let him off haha. Big couple of weeks for us all coming up. (Sorry for talking about football) Blush

Blackcats7 · 15/04/2024 08:55

Completely uninterested in all sports. Wish they didn’t take up so much time on tv. But could say the same for quiz shows and reality tv too.

Flower35214 · 15/04/2024 08:57

@Marchintospring Haha, it really was a magical moment. I can't even explain I had a headache for a good 2 hours after that game, high blood pressure I think lol.
Completely get that people don't like football thought, its not for everyone and I can't stand the violence either, although it's not every club!

This coming Saturday on BBC 1 and 2
FA cup
Football Focus
Match of the Day

ITV
English football league highlights

Will that do? I’m sure you could have looked.

None of those are on at the same time though.

Btw you missed final score on bbc2 which does overlap with the FA cup coverage

Also the snooker world championship starts this weekend 😁

There's not enough free to air sport imo but then I don't watch anything other than sport.

the80sweregreat · 15/04/2024 19:36

Don't forget the 'Euros ' this year too
That'll take up a lot of the tv schedules
It's all ' it's coming home ' until it isn't .. lol

LlynTegid · 15/04/2024 19:38

I enjoy seeing all the Manchester United fans I know being distressed about their team's current fortunes.

None of them have ever lived or have any connection to Manchester or the north west.

Blanketpolicy · 15/04/2024 19:42

I successfully avoid football mostly, but coming from the west coast of Scotland I must admit there was a game I really enjoyed half watching this weekend/Sunday. 😂

Many people from Scotland will know the game I am talking about and apologies if you are still feeling a bit blue today! 😂

the80sweregreat · 15/04/2024 19:43

I've probably known more man utd and Arsenal fans than any other club over the years and I come from the east end!
Footie fans always look permanently stressed by something or another..
It must be nice to be so dedicated to one team I suppose , a sense of loyalty or belonging and it's certainly cleaned up it's more hooligan elements too over the years.
Although I've never really understood the passion for it.
