UV filter film for windows - does it reduce heat in the room?

We have south-facing patio doors all the width of the kitchen. I can't bear the thought of another summer spent avoiding the kitchen.

Would putting UV filter film on the patio door windows minimise the heat in the kitchen by much?

I doubt it.... It will do nothing for radiating heat, surely?

I have Perfect Fit blinds (thermal ones) on the back of the house now, so I'm hoping that keeps the heat out this summer! It made a huge difference to the cold this winter as well.

Probably not helpful for you, but I have south facing windows on my flat, and I've found the only way to keep the heat down is a white sheet trapped in the top of the opening bit so it hangs down covering the whole window.

The vital bit is that the sheet is outside the window, so the direct sun doesn't reach the glass. If the sun is coming through the glass and then hitting a blind, a lot of heat is already there. And keep all the windows closed until the air outside is cooler than the air inside, although this may seem counterproductive (or unless there's a significant breeze)
