Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The heating's just come on - it's chilly down here.

We're meant to be getting an early ish train to York for the day, but only me and dd1 are up so far. Tbh, I could happily have stayed in bed a while longer 💤

I wanted to wander some of the museums in York while we're there and dd2 likes the Waterstones more than ours. & we all fancied visiting the marketplace food court again 😋

Later on, it'll be a couple of episodes of Lucifer, and a fairly early night for me I think. The girls could do with getting back to normal too so they won't be staying up late.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning everyone.
dd1 and I are going to take a walk to the next town along to get a couple of things needed for a birthday present. Dh and ds are going food shopping as we’ve got friends coming round this afternoon for a bbq.
dd2 is working but will be home later for food. Both the dds boyfriends may be joining us too.

FlorencenotRatchet · 13/04/2024 10:30

Morning @lucysmam and all.
Just back from Parkrun- first run in a while without pain so that's a bonus.
It's a beautiful day here so will try to get all my washing done.
Need to pick up some potting compost for my window boxes but apart from that looking forward to a relaxing day.
Enjoy your day everyone

Morning All

@lucysmam Love York! Love a nosey down the little shops on the shambles.

My dm and df are coming round for a cuppa and if it stops drizzling they're going to take our two DDs to the park. I had big plans to paint the garden fence but if the clouds don't clear it looks like it'll be on the back burner - ddog is hoping they clear as he loves being out in the garden. Dh is going to clean our bedroom carpet while our whirlwinds are out - it certainly needs it!

Good morning ☕️

Moping a bit really. Was meant to be going with my 2yo to a local farm/theme park with my sibling and their children but unfortunately I’ve a broken ankle so I’m stuck at home with a toddler who is climbing the walls as he’s so bored because we can’t go anywhere or do anything (I did my ankle over a week ago) and a husband who will be working 7am-9pm (minimum) as he has done every other day this lifetime week. Yay… 😂

I am trying to be positive because that’s just who I am but I’m struggling today 🙃

Morning! :) we are staying at a caravan park this weekend so DH and DD are off swimming while I tidy up and wait for DS to wake up from his nap. Going to potter over to the shop with him in the pushchair in a bit, then DD has archery and go karts booked this afternoon. Will probably get Burger King for tea and play in the arcades a little bit, might even challenge DH to a game of air hockey.

mondaytosunday · 13/04/2024 10:37

Just back from sunny dog walk. Loads of families out already. Waiting til 11 so I can have brunch (on a diet sticking to two meals a day.
DD still asleep- won't see her til she meanders down for some lunch. DS (doesn't live here but feel he's part of the day) is at work.
Dishwasher is on, pots from last night cleaned, and after brunch will get on with some work on my Etsy shop, where orders have dropped off a cliff since Christmas.
Tonight probably pasta and salad and a movie with DD.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 13/04/2024 10:40

Been to the tip, and supermarket, currently taking a bit of a break from building a gazebo (the permanent kind), will be taking DC to a birthday party in a bit, probably finishing the gazebo and doing some gardening in the late afternoon.

Jettyspaghetti · 13/04/2024 10:40

I was out of the house at 7am to go food shopping, got home about half 9. Put it all away. Had a tidy up, danced around the kitchen with DD(14) while putting shopping away and organising the cupboard and fridge.
Not much else planned for the day. DD is at work, so I said I will walk and meet her afterwards and go to boots and pick up some stuff she needs.
Then it's cleaning the rabbit out, doing the cats litter tray and hoovering.
Me and dd like to play stardew valley together on the Xbox so I might suggest we play that for an hour this evening.
DW is at work until 9pm so when she gets in I will be talked at for half an hour about her day 😂
Then it should be bed time.

frozendaisy · 13/04/2024 11:01

Off to market shortly
At least one, maybe two additional teenagers to feed later
Football and sunshine.

Just about covers it

tobee · 13/04/2024 11:03

Currently waiting for it to have been an hour since my pill so I can make & drink tea!

Dh got home on sleeper couple of hours ago and is catching up on sleep after a bath.

Ds (adult) chilling in his room. Dd (adult) probably asleep.

The plan is to go with dd into central London at some point for shopping and meet Dh later for dinner. And Ds for drinks maybe.

Feeling quite lazy though.

OldTinHat · 13/04/2024 11:13

I love York! Will you go to the ghost shop? I wish I had gone there but my friend wanted to go to the cat shop (I'm allergic so had to stand outside!).

I've had a week of hospital and more hospital. The doctor I saw yesterday apologised for their 'malpractice'. His words. So, today, I'm having a day in my own bed, eating Smarties and watching rubbish on the TV!

Chelsea26 · 13/04/2024 12:05

Morning all! I’m currently sitting in the garden with a hazelnut coffee - lovely!

Enjoy York @lucysmam - it’s a great city, I love walking the walls!

It’s absolutely glorious here today so DP and I got up instead of coffee in bed. I made him breakfast and now he’s off taking DSS back to his mum’s.

DS1 had a sleepover last night so his friend has just been collected and DS has gone to tidy the garden room (where they slept) - I think he’s probably having a little nap too.

DS2 is still in his room, maybe asleep, probably just on his phone.

I’m in real spring cleaning mode. (I pulled the sofa out and apart yesterday for a good hoovering and it was disgusting!!) so am tackling the pantry and a few drawers today. I’ve also cleared a cupboard for our NZ summer lodger who’s coming back in a couple of weeks.

I’ve got a whole chicken roasting in the oven for mason jar salads for our lunches this week. Going to do 4 coronation chicken and 4 Greek - trying to be healthy! will make a stock with the carcass for soup for lunches next week too.

DS1&2 are back to their dads this evening so afternoon will be spent helping DP with the garden room decking and then when the boys go we’ll walk the dog down to the local pub garden for a couple of drinks and potentially a takeaway. (Trying to be healthy from Monday!!)

Have good days all!

ssd · 13/04/2024 12:12

Am still in bed, had my tea and toast and am all blocked up with the cold.

ByUmberViewer · 13/04/2024 12:16

I've been to see my elderly mum, been to the farm shop, walked the dog and made a cooked breakfast.

In an hour I'm going to a lecture about the Rose Revolution in Georgia by someone who was actually there at the time.

Tonight my daughter and grand-daughter are coming round for bbq chicken, new potatoes, 3 coloured cabbage and carrots.

Perfect Saturday

I'm really enjoying this thread and I was born in York so a nice little reminder.

Im trying to stay alive as very poorly today so reading and posting and won't do much 😰

Kim82 · 13/04/2024 12:27

Hi everyone, I missed posting in the morning as I was feeling a little tender from too many drinks at the pub for my sister’s birthday last night.

Dh is at work today and I’ve got the 3 girls at home. I’ve finally just about got off my backside and put a wash load on and I’m going to go and get in the shower.

I need to go into town this afternoon as both me and dd9 have eye tests but that is all I need to do today.

The house is an absolute state but I have absolutely no inclination to do anything about that so it won’t be done today.

We have jacket potatoes planned for tea tonight but I really fancy going out to eat so we might do that instead. No idea where though.

Lunch at a local deli followed by coffee at a local coffee shop (sitting outside in the sun 💜). Weather is glorious here (London) and I’m rocking my new dress, trench coat and sandals too! Just a perfect Saturday morning 🥰 after what turned out to be the toughest week of the year (health related).

Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

Thank you @ssd I was regretting posting as this is a lovely thread and now I'm tearful but I appreciate your kindness and flowers. I hope you feel better soon. 🌷🌸

CosmosQueen · 13/04/2024 16:00

Sending you hugs @BirthdayRainbow 🤗, I hope you feel better very soon x
Well, rather late than never, hello everyone!
So far I have helped dismantle the greenhouse so my neighbour can rebuild it in their garden, brushed up all the gubbins which had accumulated behind it and sat in the sun with a coffee. I have changed the bed and filled and emptied the dishwasher.
The washing is on the line and drying nicely, DH and dd have taken the dogs out so I cooked lunch.
The house needs a good tidying but that can wait until tomorrow, dd goes back to Wales later today.

BirthdayRainbow · 13/04/2024 17:28

Thank you @CosmosQueen and I'm sorry for bringing the thread down. I was scared at how bad I felt and didn't want to feel alone 😳

DS is now here and is going to make some food so I feel a bit better.

mermaidin · 13/04/2024 17:58

I love York, I went to boarding school there many moons ago and miss it now I'm back in London.
I'm late to the thread but I've had a very chilled day. It's still sunny so sitting in the garden watching shows on the iPad with a chilled Sauvignon blanc. Bliss!

ssd · 13/04/2024 21:54

@BirthdayRainbow , thanks and the same to you.
