Different things to do at the weekend

Greengrass5678 · 12/04/2024 23:08

Looking for some inspiration for ideas to fill weekends. Currently stuck in a rut of shopping and going for lunch or dinner.
Going through a difficult time at work and I really need some exciting or different ideas and inspiration for things to do at the weekend, also to attempt to take my mind off things. Thanks so much.

Parkrun. Walk it if you want to. Most welcoming free event you'll ever attend.
National trust walks and houses.
Museums you've never been to.
Daytime cinema.
Geocaching
Look up some of the free hiking apps.
There's a few booze and brushes type groups near me that do daytime lessons. You don't have to drink.

I think that mud snorkelling competition in wales is coming up soon.

Near the coast? Seaglass collecting

Parkrun is a good shout- I would walk it- and I’ve heard it’s a good crowd who go.
Thank you!

I can be at the coast within an hour so not too far! Garden centres also a good idea for a change👌

Cinema marathons. Theatre - matinees and evening - there are lots of little theatres about. Gigs - doesn't have to be big ones, lots of small venues do gigs. Comedy nights. Spending all day in a big museum with lunch in the cafe. Hobbies - arts, crafts, sports. Walking, hiking. Weight lifting. Exercise classes. Cooking, baking. Writing. Reading. Decorating.

Literally whatever you want.

I quite like doing trails in local cities. You find interesting things out and see things that you would usually just walk past.

If you are anywhere within travelling distance of Crawley, there is a national bonsai exhibition at the K2 leisure centre this coming Sunday.

Just go out and explore. Find a random footpath, walk it and see what you find. Trust me you will be glad you did :)

If you like dogs volunteer for the Cinnamon Trust to walk an elderly or disabled person's dog. Or see if Guide Dogs need any volunteer dog exercisers in your area.

Go to the theatre, either evening or matinee.

Drive to the coast for a walk along the seafront and fish and chips.

Join a local litter pick or community gardening day or similar

Look up all the small random local museums and work your way round them. Often surprisingly fascinating.

Join a rambling group.

Zoo keeper experience.
Walk with llamas experience.
Join Nextdoor, so you can see any local events in your area.
Volunteer to help at your local food bank.
Check if there is anything interesting going on at your local library.
If you live near London, walk over the top of the O2 Arena.

Look out for local trails. I have done gorillas in London fairly recently, but I think they are available nationwide on a regular basis.

Learn a new hobby.

Go to a different coastal destination every week.

Visit every country park in your area.

Buy a book or look online for walks in your area finishing at a pub.
