Little presents for 3.5 and 5.5 year olds

We're seeing good friends this weekend and would really like to bring something for their boys, aged 3.5 and 5.5 years. At younger ages we did things like sticker books - something pretty safe that shouldn't be too annoying for the parents (e.g. to store, or if they already have them). I'm feeling a bit out of touch on their current ages. What types of things would you/your DC like to have? Thank you! 😊

Before I opened your post, I thought sticker books! Sounds like the perfect age, as long as stickers not too babyish.

Top tip: remove the negative space around the stickers so that the children can take them off the paper themselves.

Sticker books or those magazines they sell at the supermarket with crafts and colouring in.

Or maybe a hot wheels car if that's more their thing.

I was thinking bubbles or chalk they always went down well with my friends wee girls.

Sticker books, colouring book, a book, felt tips, seeds to plant together. A magazine is fine, but not the ones with all the plastic crap that gets lost under the sofa in 5 minutes.

Some sort of craft is always good because it's an activity and then can be disposed of so not cluttering up the house. Something like Baker Ross. They have little sets with stickers, sewing, painting or scratch art.

It depends how much you want to spend. Mine loved this

Although, they both still love a sticker book. Mine are almost 4 and 5 1/2 girls.

I have a 2 and 6 year old and sticker books always go down really well with them! They live them :)
And pens/paper and colouring things :)

Phew - thank you all! That's perfect. I will get on the sticker book/craft trail 😊

Hot Wheels cars and small Lego kits seem to be popular with the 4 year old boy I know. And activity books about numbers.

He’s not a big sticker fan since he’s been at school, but was last year, so that may work better for the younger one.

I'd be over the moon with picture books at that age. Hated getting craft sets, as they always involve adult help so it's another thing to manage and it's not as easy as throwing it away after, kids won't let you do that. Not sure why everyone always says sticker books or magazines that come with tat. Magazines are more expensive than a book. Few people have gifted my children actual books, but I've always been very glad when they have.

But if you really don't want to get a book, then I agree Hot Wheels car is inexpensive, easy to grab in a supermarket and not a storage issue, and most 3 year old and 5 year olds like them.
