Over researching stuff before buying - I just want a toaster. But I am stuck in the reviews!

Upgrading a toaster. You would have thought that would be simple.

Who knew there were so many toasters out there!
So many functions - some of which I hadn't even considered.

And then the reviews - seriously. In the old days, I would have just got one. Possibly looked at the Which magazine to see what they think - but it's just a toaster.

Now I am worried about if it will toast evenly. Will all the toast get done. Will it be wide enough?

And that's just come from reading the reviews.

And then it's a Google search to get the best price

Does anyone else over research on what should be reasonably straightforward purchases?

*I still haven't made a decision yet

Yes, I do this, and DH is worse. I believe it's called "analysis paralysis."

I went down a deep rabbit hole trying to buy a lawnmower a few years ago. We only have a tiny lawn so didn't need anything fancy. Looked at loads of reviews online, visited garden centres etc. Was just about to choose when MiL turns up with a second hand one her neighbour had given her. It was nowhere near the list of ones I'd been researching, but you know what? It's just fine. As I'm pretty sure all of the others would have been!

Just stick to a brand you are happy with + a price you are happy with. Look for 1-2 good reviews. Helps to drown out the noise.

Thanks, @AnOldCynic. I did like that - but then wondered if I wouldn’t prefer a stove top kettle. So that was another eighteen months of ‘research’ …

I have got myself a stove top kettle.

But that just has one job. To boil water.

No issues about some of the water being boiled.

I have almost committed to toaster - the Dualit seems to be highly recommended. But where from!!

That's relatively easy research.

And it's done.

Dualit 2 slice lite toaster. Hopefully should fit UK bread size properly. And toast both sides.

New toaster arrived - A step up from before.
Fits the bread beautifully - even DS was impressed!

Now to learn the settings!!
