I took DD to the docs today, she’s 7. They gave me a blue inhaler, so far so good. Coughing so much that she vomits and it lasts all night long.
A friend suggested it as her DD was diagnosed with asthma that only presents in winter.

Mine have been prescribed a steroid dose before which really helps , also the the bronchostop cough sweets are really effective

@fruitypancake

Just a one off steroid?
I asked the doc about an inhaler and he said no it wouldn't help because it's all in the upper airway.

My eldest had this, extreme coughing till he vomited. We had an inhaler ( blue one to relax/ open airways) also tried a strong antihistamine in case it was an allergy. Eventually a clever Gp figured out it was actually excess stomach acid that was irritating his airway. This was over months though. I think you’d get an inhaler off GP to help alleviate cough in the first instance.

@fruitypancake

What does that do though?

Help one night or a few nights?

She was going for about 5 mins last night with puking. It's absolutely awful feeling so helpless.

@Elephantswillnever

I asked about an inhaler and he said because it's upper Airways it's not helpful to have an inhaler.

Yes, they usually give you enough to take a few nights . Suppresses the cough .

@fruitypancake thanks and does that help even if it's not chesty?
