Hating being pregnant never felt so awful

Had a miscarriage in December got pregnant again 2 weeks later. I had extreme sickness the 1st time around but assumed it would ease. This time around it’s been awful I’m constantly feeling nauseous sick and exhausted. My migraines have come back with evengencce my blood pressure is low so I’m dizzy whenever i stand up. I’ve lost 9 pounds in weight I sleep all afternoon I’m exhausted as soon as I wake up I’m just about managing to force some food into me. I’ve felt like this since November I’m so excited to be pregnant and have this baby but by 16 weeks I was hoping I would have started to get better. I’ve also had 2 colds in the last month I’m currently all bunged up. Please tell me it all gets better. My doctor and midwife all assure me this is normal.

Aw, it is rubbish isn't it? I really hope you start to feel better soon. I'm 12 weeks with #3 and all my early pregnancies have been similar to what you've described unfortunately. By week 20 in the previous two I was really feeling a lot better though, so I hope you do also find the same (and hopefully me too this time around too!). Just get the rest you need for now and know it will eventually pass.

If your sickness is really bad, there are meds you can try from the GP you know, in case you weren't aware. The Pregnancy Sickness Support charity are also super supportive and helpful.

I’ve been given meds by the doctor but they don’t really help well I don’t no I could be way worse if I wasn’t taking them. I’m not working at the moment either as I physically can’t my life revolves around sitting or sleeping I try and get out but I have to nap as soon as I’m back.

If you're constantly feeling/being sick and having migraines you could have hyperemesis - extreme pregnancy sickness. I had this and it's awful. It took all the joy out of being pregnant as I felt so terrible and kept ending up in hospital for fluids. Then somewhere around the 21 week mark I woke up one morning and it was gone. Pretty much overnight. I then went on to have a great pregnancy- felt great, kept working and even took and passed my driving test at 8.5 months. Just wanted to offer you some hope. I hope you feel better soon.

Being pregnant is awful, you have my full sympathy. I lost weight too, and everyone kept reassuring me "baby is fine" when I was more concerns that I very much wasn't!

I found having slow release carbs helped my blood sugar stabilise, and that helped my nausea a lot. Things like having porrige for breakfast with a big handful of ground almonds mixed in, for example. Also having a water bottle to sip from whenever I felt queasy.

The only really hope I can offer you is that it's finite, and nature ensures you mostly forget about it all. (Otherwise the species would die out pretty quickly)

Pregnancy may have been horrendous, but motherhood was amazing. Hang in there.

Make another GP appt, there's loads of medications you could try. Another one, or a combination, might work better for you. If you feel that terrible it's worth a try. I'm taking Xonvea for the first time this pregnancy and this is the least sick I've ever been as although it's still grim I had hyperemesis with my two previous pregnancies and was bedbound for months.

mizzastar · 10/04/2024 11:18

I had hyperemesis and lost 2 and a half stone by the time I had my daughter at 37+3. She's now a happy healthy 5 and a half year old.
it is miserable and isolating. I found with the dizziness having some biscuits on the bedside table helped so I ate before I had to get out of bed..... rolling over used to make me heave so having a plain biscuit just helped. But definitely seek help xx

Being pregnant is awful for some people, no one really talks about it though, you're expected to just get on with it. I didn't start to feel better until third trimester, at which point my pelvis started being extremely painful, the whole experience was awful from start to finish.

Definitely go to your GP though, they can prescribe things to make it easier.

And hold on to the fact that it will all go away when your baby is born!

Just wish I didn’t have this cold on top of this
