Mine seems to have gone up by 20 a month.
If yours increased did you get any notification of it and why?

Are you on a water meter or paying it as a fixed rate standing charge? Rates usually go up with the change in the financial year but if you're on a meter it might be because you're using more water or you've got a leak.

Yes a meter.

I was just trying to gage if others had noticed an increase recently or how they work it out.

Have rates increased?

it's more than likely the unit rates have gone up, although I would expect that to happen from 1st April so you wouldn't be seeing it yet. The info should be on your water company website e.g. Thames Water say theirs went up by an average of 12.3% in April. Is your bill based on estimated or actual readings?

Yes.

Silly question but how to we know it's not a leak? Can we check ourselves or does water company do it

Turn all taps etc off and make sure the washing machine isn’t running or toilet flushing and look to see if your meter is moving round.

What would you expect to pay on a one bed flat

Not a clue I'm afraid as I don't have a meter (sadly) so I pay a lot more than I need to on the council tax band rates. You should be able to do an estimate off the rates on your water company website.
