A mousetrap? A pest control company?

It's rarely just one mouse, but have you just spotted a few tiny signs in one area or are you overrun with the buggers?

My friend did it with bicarbonate of soda mixed in flour on a shallow plate... I haven't tried it but she has no mice. Think she looked on YouTube

We heard scratching that seemed to
Be coming from the hall/ garage. We've set traps but the buggers have eaten the bait but not set the traps off 😫

Invite a cat into your home

PercyPhelps · 08/04/2024 16:53

Use chocolate spread as bait.

Bonbon21 · 08/04/2024 16:54

Sonic repellants from Amazon.. plug in for a couple of days before going round with sealant EVERYWHERE... they absolutely work!!

That's what we used.... they've eaten it but the traps haven't gone off

You need to phone the council and use their pest control team usually not too expensive but they ensure the mice are fully gone! Mice are intelligent if they see their mate getting squished they will avoid that trap and sometimes the traps catch a mouse but don’t kill it. It’s not very humane to use old fashioned traps.

Purplevioletsherbert · 08/04/2024 16:57

Get a tall plastic bin and drill a hole in opposite sides. Connect a piece of string through the two holes, with an empty kitchen roll tube on it to make a beam. Put the bait on the beam, and use something to make a ramp up to the top of the bin. They’ll go to get the bait and fall off the tube into the bin.

Crafty! What traps are you using?

Those suggesting cats clearly have better cats than me. Ours bring them mice in and get bored.

Council here only turn out for council tenants... owner/occupier has to find private company... £80 call out fee.. sonic repellants start at £20.

Old fashioned snap traps are the best I've found. Bait with peanut butter. I caught mice with these when rentokill failed to with their fancy traps!!

MumOfOneAwesomeHuman · 09/04/2024 07:54

The house we live in had a mouse and even a rat problem before we moved in. No problem for us with 4 cats! The scent and threat of a good mouser or more will keep the mice away.

Allschoolsareartschools · 09/04/2024 07:58

Another vote for old fashioned wooden snap traps baited with peanut butter or Nutella.
Set quite a few & you'll get them.
Quick, cheap & effective & less cruel than so called humane traps.

TheTripThatWasnt · 09/04/2024 08:01

A good mouser cat isn't necessarily an answer for an indoor mouse problem. Ours is prolific at catching muce outside, but has no interest once she's brought them in - we have to catch them ourselves.

Snap traps have never failed us. Decent ones shouldn't mean they can take the bait. Mice generally stay near edges of rooms, so set them up near skirtings.

Best way to get rid of these is to leave a bowl of beer out just a little bit and they will drink it but because rats and mice cannot burp well you can guess what will happen..... I read this on a group I'm on who had issues with mice/rats and slugs 😊
