Would you bother replacing 2nd pre-molar tooth

I'm going to need my upper 2nd pre-molar extracted, i.e.the 5th tooth along from the front. I can either leave it as a gap, or get immediate partial denture (£500) or wait 12 weeks and get an acrylic denture (£800) or save up for an implant (£3000). Argh! It's so costly whichever option I take except leaving it as a gap.

It won't be THAT noticeable, would it?

Bumping for advice!

Now I've got a dodgy lower premolar that may eventually need removing. I thought a gap may make my chubby cheeks look more contoured.

I would have the gap initially, then see how you felt about it.

See I'm more worried about looking sunken-in. And the look of the gap itself, will I look like a witch Sad

I was in your situation, OP and I chose to have an implant. If you can't afford an implant, perhaps look at the other options you mentioned. I chose to have the implant because I was told that a missing tooth has like a 'domino effect' on the other teeth and they can all move around and end up being a bit of a mess. I am glad that I had the implant because it has preserved all the rest of my teeth.

My first molar tooth on each side is gone on my lower jaw (adult tooth missing so still had my baby teeth albeit crowned until 35!).
it isn’t very noticeable but I think the pre molar would be. The thing about waiting to see with the implant is that your bone density decreases once a tooth is removed so you may need a bone graft for the implant?
can you do a finance plan on it?
its such a pain. Ideally I would have had an implant but given the possible bone graft just told them to leave it.

I have a 2nd premolar which I had root canal 3 years ago. At the beginning of this year, my tooth cracked and broken bit hanging off from the constant coughing I had over Xmas/NY and the crack was below the gumline. About 3 weeks after discovering the cracked tooth - the broken bit fell out.

Not in any pain thanks to the RC.. My dental practice is NHS and private. Too little of the tooth is exposed for NHS treatment. A quote to replace the tooth with a post and crown was £3045. That or 170 bottles of gin? The latter😂

I'd have thought you could get an implant at that price. Mine is a previously root canal tooth too. So no pain but it needs to come out as there's not much of it left since it cracked and broke.

It's interesting to hear different thoughts, and yes I am concerned about bone loss and other teeth moving about.

Maybe I'll go for a denture for now. But I hate the thought of fiddling about putting a tiny tooth in and out of my mouth.

I had one of these removed leaving a gap. Food continually got stuck in gap and more seriously the bone above started disappearing as not being continually stressed by eating movement. After a year or two had an implant but cost £6000 due to bone having reduced. Sooner rather than later and it may cost less.

I recently had a broken pre-molar removed. I had a bone graft at the same time so that I have time to make a choice. The graft needs a minimum of 3 months to settle before implant work can begin. In that time I'm living with the gap which isn't causing any problems. My dentist said it's very rare for adult teeth to move (as seen in my own mouth - front teeth are wonky as they were crowded by my wisdom teeth - jaw not big enough for them all - but when the wisdom teeth were removed the front teeth remained wonky!).

The pain after the bone graft was something else! Gum very swollen which caused the lymph nodes under my chin to swell so I looked like a lopsided greedy hamster for 5 days! At this stage I'm probably just going to leave the gap and not have an implant.

The broken bit of the tooth is on the outer side.

I had to count but I had my 6th tooth from the front removed and no issues since (upper) and it's not obvious at all
Depends on your smile really and teeth sort of.. lay out
