D&V - how to tell if it’s from food or airborne?

My daughter and a friend met for food in a restaurant on Wednesday evening. Met up, walked to the restaurant - only visited that restaurant and then went their separate ways.

Thursday evening daughter gets stomach pains which quickly turn to violent D&V lasting all day on the Friday. D still ongoing on the Saturday.

Happened to speak to friend later on the Friday and friend had exactly same experience, although pains and coming starting a few hours later than DD.

Both girls ate different meals, only thing in common was they ate a bread roll and butter.

My thinking is it’s more food poisoning as we’ve had norovirus in the house previously and it’s hit within an hour or so and it went through the whole house. None of us that didn’t eat at the restaurant have become ill.

The girls walked to the restaurant in a large shopping centre - could something like this be airborne?

I’ve emailed the restaurant who have been really good and are investigating (I thought best to let them know in case they get further reports of illness).

D&V isn't generally airborne. Noro is only airborne in the sense you can inhale droplets from another person, for example if you are in the same room as someone who is vomiting. They could have both used a germy toilet and not washed their hands properly?

There is every possibility it may be from the toilets - they both used them at the restaurant

24 plus hours does seem a long time for food poisoning to develop.
