I’ll start- I have to ring up and order repeat prescriptions a lot (3 disabled people in the house)-

Why the fuck do they keep changing the menu to get through to the prescription line? Why?!

I just get used to pressing certain numbers to avoid listening to the whole menu and the bastards change it and I have to listen to 5 minutes of drivel again.

Made worse by the fact that it’s my own fault I have to ring because I never sort out the bloody online thing.

My drs has also changed it used to say …you are number 99 in the queue…now it only tells you when your number 10 in the queue so when you first ring you have no idea then 40 mins later you are number 10 in the queue 😄

Theoldcuriosityshop · 05/04/2024 10:25

We are not allowed to ring for repeat prescriptions. Ours has changed now that we don't have to order them anymore, they are sent directly to the chemist every 2 months, to be collected.

Ohdearydeary · 05/04/2024 10:28

@Nicetobenice67 oh God, I think that might be worse!

@Theoldcuriosityshop I would be in favour of that. I have to ring 4 times a month because all 4 peoples prescriptions are on a different schedule 🤦‍♀️.

We are no longer able to call up for prescriptions we have to physically go in and fill out a form

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 05/04/2024 10:32

we can via email. Now we have app but never tried it

Andthereyougo · 05/04/2024 10:35

I am only allowed one bottle of prescription eye drops per month even though consultant is saying use them 6-8 times per day. I have to carry one bottle around with me every day and then remember to put it next to my bed to use at night and early morning.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 05/04/2024 10:36

My surgery only lets you order a repeat prescription by leaving a voicemail. However the voicemail is only accepted between 10 and 3. If it's a voicemail surely it can be open all the time.

Nicetobenice67 · 05/04/2024 10:37

How things have changed ..you cannot even get an appointment now you have to start queuing at 8 in the morning in hope you can get an appointment …I know this isn’t about op thread just saying

Ours tried that once- I rang up and they said

“we will do it this once but from now on you can only ring if you are housebound, we have changed the rules”

The next time I though “well I’ll call and see how strict the housebound rule is” (i’m not but I’m a wheelchair user and would have had to also take disabled children with me and it’s a faff and I’m lazy)

and there was no mention of the housebound thing and hasn’t been since 🤷‍♀️

Bless you can you explain to them how difficult it is for you it just doesn’t seem fair

Hi OP, I had the same situation where I was ordering medication for three separate people, all at the same surgery These included medication which had to be signed for. Like you, they all seemed to finish at different times.
We are fortunate to have a pharmacist attached to the surgery. I worked out much of each individual medication I needed to bring everybody up to the end of a month and the pharmacist agreed to issue prescriptions with those exact amounts. It meant that at the start of the next month I was able to order everyone’s medication at the same time.
I also do it online and it is SO much easier and much less time consuming. Even if you don’t get round to doing it online, it’s only one phone call at the start of each month

BearSoFair · 05/04/2024 10:53

My GP has changed the automated 'you are in the queue' message to one of the receptionists saying "Hello, thank you for calling XX surgery, please hold, our patients are important to us." I think 'ooh I've got through quick!' and say hello back to 'her' every bloody time...

I hadn’t thought of that- I didn’t realise the pharmacy could do this. Ours is attached to the surgery too so I’ll ask them. Once a month would be much better.

Delivery drivers who leave a parcel in my parcel box but the ring the doorbell before walking off. I am disabled and it hurts me to hobble to the blimmin door each time to then open it and find nobody there. What is the bloody point?! Obviously I will check my parcel box when it suits me and most of these companies send a text or email confirming delivery anyway.
Actually that brings me on to another peeve, those emails you get saying
”Great News! Your parcel is on it’s way!” What do they expect a round of applause?

Echobelly · 05/04/2024 11:05

People saying/writing phrases like 'positive benefits'.... what, like there's such thing as 'negative benefits'?! 😑

chattyness · 05/04/2024 11:07

I used to detest ringing for prescriptions, now we can order online and can book most appointments for dr online as well, I'm so pleased as ringing the dr for one is a nightmare as although they are lovely, they interrupt all the time, so if I have to contact them now I go into the surgery instead and speak face to face, they don't do it then, it's so much easier.

LightSpeeds · 05/04/2024 11:11

People standing at a zebra crossing chatting. No intention of crossing - but you have to stop your car for them!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 05/04/2024 11:17

I can order repeat prescriptions via the NHS app - collect 2-3 days later. I hate faff but it’s very simple.

the80sweregreat · 05/04/2024 11:40

It's always branded as being a positive for the customer, but it rarely is.
More likely done to save them money instead
We know their game

alloalloallo · 05/04/2024 12:03

DD has a repeat prescription but the pharmacy never put the repeat request form in the bag so I have to fuck about going into the surgery to make a request for a form in writing and then go back in and pick it up, and put it in the repeat prescription box. We can’t do any of it online and it’s so much faff. Drives me nuts.

Phineyj · 05/04/2024 12:41

Hi OP, have you tried online ordering from Boots? I've found them really straightforward for prescriptions. GPs can send your prescriptions anywhere you request I think.

katebushh · 05/04/2024 12:53

I do my repeat prescriptions on the NHS app. Piece of piss.

We don't have this luxury following a system change. Also it didn't used work for the pill as they won't put it down as a repeat medication you can order yourself, it was always a phone call.
