Feeling a bit guilty because I never know what to do these days with my 8yo. Lots of friends and family seem to have gone away but it's so expensive. We tend to try to save for a really nice Summer holiday and do the same old stuff the rest of the time. Even a day out you can spend a fortune to spend the day queuing. Seeing lots of photos of peoples adventures and feeling like a boring mum.

This holiday we've done swimming, a long family bike ride, play date at the trampoline park, went out for pizza and mini golf, baked Easter cakes, an afternoon at grannies playing board games. Ds has spent loads of time outside with dh helping with jobs which seems to be where he's happiest and playing football.

We have a family member in hospital so most of our Easter holidays has been spent visiting them and trying to fit in fun activities before or after visiting time. We did the park today and we've become regulars at the Asda cafe on the way to/from the hospital making the most of the kids meal for £1 deal. I was worried the kids would be upset but they seem to have been loving it. The nurses on the ward are so lovely and one of them showed them how to bandage their teddies today and the other day the physio got them to do the exercises alongside the patient so they can keep him right when he comes home.

I think they just like the time spent with people they love. We've had to cancel so many plans and they have been wee champs

Mine have sat on tablets and phones all day eating Easter eggs everyday, the odd trip to the park maybe that’s it. I can’t say it makes me feel good I like getting out and about but you need money , time off and to find somewhere that everyone wants to go oh and sorry I need half decent weather to be outside ! The pressure to think of what to do is the hardest thing about being a mum I think in this generation I think

We didn't do anything special just spent a few afternoons with cousins swimming and playing football, a visit to a play cafe and an Easter egg hunt on Easter morning. It's a break from school for the kids and they have to recharge to get them through until end of year. Plenty of time in summer for long days at the beach and trips away.

Plus, it's been pissing with rain the entire 2 weeks which hasn't helped.
