Dental treatment

Have received my maternity exempt certificate. What can we get done at the dentist apart from regular check ups? Are hygiene cleans and filling also exempt?

I think it's any treatment that would be covered by the NHS, rather than done private.

So I think (I could be wrong here) that a hygienist may be covered if the dentist says it's clinically necessary. If you book directly with the hygienist I believe that is done privately, so wouldn't be covered.
If you needed a filling, that would be covered.

When I was pregnant I didn't have to pay for my check ups and hygienist appointments which I normally had before I was pregnant. There are some things you can't have done when you are pregnant for example x-rays. If you need a filling that will be covered.

You can't use your exemption certificate to get all the things done that you would like but can't afford like gold filings, cosmetic work, teeth whitening etc.

It's any NHS dental care so nothing cosmetic. Good luck getting an NHS dentist though if you aren't already registered as an NHS patient.

Yes not looking for anything cosmetic but would like a hygiene clean and my filling replaced as theres a hole in it.
