I am currently in a secure full time job at a great and well known organisation. However, my pay is c.£37k a year and I am trying to go for a promotion and my salary till jump to c.£47k.

However, there is an opportunity also at a very well known organisation for a contractor role in my field and the pay after deduction is £75k.

My dilemma is that I think I may be pregnant and too early to test yet and the deadline for the application is this week.

Would it be best I stick to my permanent full time job with the security to also look after me on maternity or do I leave and get more money and save money aside IF I am pregnant.

I am so lost and wondered if anyone could help me decide from experience or working as a contractor with a really good day rate...

Go for it for the experience if nothing else.

Not applying means not getting your name and face out there and guaranteed not to get the job.

Absolutely apply, applying means you have options, it doesn't commit you to taking the job if you are offered it.

Personally I would be wary of a contractor role as you would not be entitled to sick pay/holiday pay or maternity pay over the statutory. Also I work for a very large bank and we employ contractors and will regularly end their contracts early so its not the most secure way to work.

Personally I wouldn't go for a contractor role in your position.

I do contract work. If there is a chance you may be pregnant or likely to be so in the near future, you would be better to stick to a permy role.
