Feeling out of the loop in my 50s

Feeling a bit low today.I was waiting for the bus when I realised I don't belong anywhere.
My colleagues don't like me which can be draining but the hours are considerably better than my last job.
Adult dcs have moved too far away to visit.
My dh grunts as he gets in watches TV until bedtime.
I always had a strong identity and purpose in my last role though.
I pride myself on doing a job lots of others would struggle with me
Apologies for the seemingly self pity party I wonder if anyone else 50 plus feels the same.

Thank you all.☺️
I happen to agree with you all and have overheard things I can't believe tbh.
They must think I'm hard of hearing .
I love working.
I left the interview with a real spring in my step.
Dh has been advised I'm changing a few things and have since Easter.
I have no interest gossiping about colleagues.
It has taught me how comments can hurt someone so I need to bear this in mind with my latest couple of years.
I don't want to end up like them moaning about work every day.
Onwards and upwards before I lose my mind.🎉🎉

Op it sounds like you and your H are in the doldrums in your fifties. I get it. I'm in my early sixties. The children have moved away and it feels like you're just killing time until retirement. The old patterns of living don't work any more, and you haven't really established any new ones.

I am here to tell you that you stand on the cusp of a brilliant period of your life if you want it. Research shows you are approaching what most people find to be the happiest stage of life. You don't have your onerous caring duties towards your children any more, so why not start focussing some of that love, care and attention on you and your DH. You probably also find you have more money in your pocket nowadays without all the children's expenses.

Start thinking about your retirement and how you want it to be. See if you enlist your husband's engagement with this and start getting excited together, but if you can't initially, do it anyway! Newly retired, we are having a blast in our early sixties. Don't forget, the retired have lots of time on their hands and generally enjoy socialising with others, so there will be lots of opportunities for you to meet new friends. Good luck, there's a whole new way of life waiting for you and probably a much happier one. Start planning for it. 😊

I gave my notice in.
I have enough funds that even if I don't get my new job I will be ok for a long time .which won't happen as I've been asked to apply for several things this week by recruiters.
My fears were realised when I discovered one of the nasty ones was getting the job they were promised before I started.
So a kind of restructuring.I was used to plug a gap.
I couldn't gel with my colleagues as they ostracized me.
I overheard bits as they gossip a lot.
They never kept me in the loop.
Best bit is area manager is giving me a reference as I've been proactive, and I'm reliable.
Even better the new hire was a no show just as more work has been assigned.🤣🤣
I don't know how I've not had a breakdown here.
Onwards and upwards in a positive vibe though.
