Work WhatsApp group during annual leave

New manager has created a work whats app group. I'm currently on annual leave and it's driving me mad. I've muted it but I can still see it full of messages when I use the app. I'm also finding it really difficult to ignore them and my mind is constantly wondering whats going on. Very difficult to switch off from work.

Any suggestions?

Android phones can operate two application profiles in the same time (with one number, just two different gmails), so when on vacation I turn off the work profile, and it disables work version of all apps.

I'm not sure it would work with whatsApp, as it is identified by a phone number, not email, but in general it is very cool feature.

I have mine archived and muted Op but even with that it still comes up with a little 1 beside the archived button on your main chat list indicating that there’s a message waiting for you in an archived chat - which makes me then go into it and look! I’m considering removing myself from mine as I’m currently on AL too and it’s annoying but I think my boss might probe and or discipline me

Oh the horror.

I'm so glad my workplace has nothing like this.

I have always refused to join WhatsApp work groups if I was not provided with a work mobile...

Same. I refuse to have anything work related, barring my line managers phone number in case of emergency, on my personal phone. If they dont give me a work phone, then thats on them. Plus its always switched off when I am off work.

It's not possible.

Do people not have a sperarte works provide mobile? If not, why not?

Public sector. The general public would view it as a perk and we've already got more than enough of those what with the high pay and the abundant free tea and coffee.

You don't need to leave and rejoin

just archive it when you are on holiday and don't want to see it

I'm also public but we all have work phones. I dont think the public view it as a perk. Just a work tool.

No, it's a min wage retail job and they wouldn't give us all phones! The group was set up when we had to work from home
