Fecking Vinted

I use Vinted pretty often (to buy and sell) without issue but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do here?

I received the wrong item (via in-post) and immediately contacted the seller who has agreed to post me the the correct item. As we were organising this I didn't click "I have an issue" with the order, I was just going to pay when item arrived but it seems to have auto completed? So the seller has been paid.

I most certainly didn't click "order complete" as obviously it isn't but as the item was marked delivered and I didn't report the wrong item did the system just pay the seller?

I realise this is my error and I have zero comeback but I didn't realise Vinted automatically take payment unless you click 'I have an issue'

The seller was initially very apologetic and said they'd post me the right item today via Royal Mail (but didn't take my address when I asked if they needed it and I was pretty sure if I'd got the wrong item then so had the person who ordered what I received!!)

I've contracted seller again today and asked them to confirm ASAP they'll send me correct item. Of course there has been no reply.

Is there a time limit on leaving feedback? I want to at least give them a chance to rectify this but as the order is complete I'm pretty sure they system is going to leave feedback automatically now as well.

Urgh.

Yes you have a few days to say whether you have an issue otherwise the sale will complete automatically and the seller will get their money. I think you get a couple of notification prompts to remind you but if you don’t have the notifications on the app set up that way perhaps you didn’t get them. You could try contacting Vinted but I’m not sure how easy that is!

Colinorpercy · 02/04/2024 08:45

I think you should be able to edit your feedback though

TipsyKoala · 02/04/2024 08:50

You only have 2 days to click that there’s an issue which isn’t enough. You should be able to leave your own feedback though, just click on the conversation and it should give you the option. You can chat online with vinted but they take a couple of days to reply

albatrossjoe · 02/04/2024 08:53

Yeah it's a pain. I've just had a similar situation - patterned dress described as "barely worn, excellent condition" arrived with a really big brown/orange stain on the back and having been (very badly) hand sewn all over the bust in a botched attempt to edit it. Contacted seller straight away and sent photos, I didn't want to click I Have an Issue without giving the seller a chance to reply. They wasted a day going back and forth they couldn't see the stain from the photos (even after I circled it and with my sister confirming it was very obvious from the photo!) Then they said what should they do, so I replied typically sellers offer a refund or discount in this situation. She then replied saying can't I just wash the item to see if the stain comes out? I didn't want to risk my own 5.0 rating by contacting Vinted but now wish I had. By the time I'd stain treated the dress twice to get as much of the stain out as I could it had been 48 hours so Vinted automatically released the payment. And now I'm questioning how honest to be in my feedback as she'll probably one star me if I do. :(

You're stuck with the payment side OP but can still edit feedback even if Vinted leave automatic feedback on your behalf.

Crunchymum · 05/04/2024 09:02

Well predictably the seller has now blocked me, but has my address and was apparently posting the item yesterday. Fucker!!

I've logged a case with Vinted, left very scathing feedback and I won't be so stupid again.

I just wanted to bloody item 😔

Did the seller admit to posting the wrong item? Cos InPost is usually the issue, you can get sent the correct item but somehow the inpost courier ends up putting your label on a completely different item. There are Facebook groups dedicated to finding the right InPost cockup. You can be in Cornwall and your item has ended up in Scotland!

I hope you get it sorted, but Vinted customer service is a bit shit IME.

I understand where you are coming from aa I like to give people the benefit of the doubt too, but the 'i have an issue' function is there for this very reason and because you didn't press it the seller had no urgency to deal with your complaint because money due in 2 days anyway.

I didn't actually know the sale auto completes if you don't click "I have an issue".

I incorrectly assumed not completing the sale was enough. Lesson learned.

Seller fully admitted to sending wrong item but told me they still had the correct item in their possession (which seemed odd as I assumed they was just a mix up with the parcels)

Seller took my address, told me she would post via Royal Mail and then blocked me.

Customer Service have been utterly useless.

This seller has 3 other instances of negative feedback (one auto completed "sale did not take place) and two were from buyers that the seller just never bothered to send the parcels to. Although seller had responded to both of these with "I'd had a family emergency and I couldn't post, so sorry" and both of these sales were a day apart so the family emergency could have been genuine.

I accept it was my mistake as I didn't click "I have an issue" as we were sorting it out between ourselves. Urgh!!!

Yes, I’ve had this happen to me - I sold an item and the buyer wasn’t happy with it so I offered to refund it, and while I was discussing this with the buyer it auto-completed and paid me! Once that’s happened as a seller there’s no way you can issue a refund through Vinted. Very frustrating (I took the buyer’s bank details and refunded her privately, but if you were a dishonest seller you could very easily take advantage of the system…).

Darklane · 07/04/2024 13:57

I can’t believe someone would sell a dress like that, stained & botched alteration! The nerve of it!
I’ve sometimes wondered about looking on Vinted, a friend uses it, but this sort of thing makes me think twice. I’d be selling more than buying as I have lots of shoes completely unworn, still in boxes with the stickers still on the soles as I loved heels so used to go mad buying but Sod’s Law I now have arthritic mobility problems so can’t wear them. The money I’ve wasted, I could weep.

blackcherryconserve · 07/04/2024 14:06

Always, always click 'I have an issue' before making contact with a seller.

I'm constantly surprised that both buyers and sellers don't read up the Vinted rules beforehand! However, we can all make genuine mistakes - I have in the past twice sent the wrong purchases to the wrong buyers, it is easily done if you have a number of packages to mail. I also avoid Inpost as there are often horror stories of packages going missing with them more than any other courier.

As I say, I genuinely didn't realise that the sale auto completes unless you confirm otherwise.

The seller was communicative, happy to send the correct item etc until they realised they had their money and they then blocked me!!

Item was less than a tenner so its more about the principle of it all.

I have left very scathing feedback but it seems that is all I can do as customer services aren't interested.... despite me providing screen shot evidence this seller has fucked up 3 prior sales.

It was me that bought that dress @Darklane. I still haven't left feedback yet but will message her either way. She's a relatively new seller and looks young in her pic so will try and go the pm route. I will say for the couple of terrible purchases like this I've also had some great ones. My £120 Warehouse coat that I wear most days was new with tags and I paid £15 for it. The purchases like that are the ones that help me feel better if it doesn't work out. 😅

Bananajam · 07/04/2024 20:18

I've bought and sold almost 200 items, not as many as some but I've had some absolutely amazing bargains alongside the few parcels which have gone straight to the charity shop and the clearly fake trainers which I had to pay to return. Overall, its been a far better return than ebay and I've spent what I've earned so its been a good way of changing up my wardrobe and clearing out my old clothes.
I always press i have an issue and then try to resolve it with the seller as any delays can cost you!
