Teen-friendly book about reducing screen use....

13yo nephew is doing his best to reduce screen use - mostly scrolling on socials. He's finding it a slog, and I wanted to send him something to encourage him. Has anyone come across any books around this that I could give him?

With respect if you would’ve sent DD a book like that at 13 (or any age) I + she would’ve found it incredibly condescending. I really suggest you refrain, leave his parents to do the parenting

Maybe ask his parents first, they might find it patronising that you’re getting involved even with the best of intentions. My sister makes lots of comments about my teenagers but her children are still little and she will find out what it’s like soon enough!

Does he enjoy reading? I wonder if instead of sending a book it would be good to do something he could do instead of scrolling? Something like a game or puzzle or craft perhaps?

At 13 it’s not going to get better if you are aiming to detach them from screens. I’d almost say encourage a bit of actual online activity based on interests

Hmm yes. It's coming from him. His parents are supportive, but he's the driver of it. He's watched 'videos of this guy' (online) who apparently talks about all the benefits of breaking his tech addiction, and got inspired. I'm not sure who the guy is, or I'd look to see if he's written a book himself.

(and yes, sorry, he loves to read!)
