Something very easy to clean and that feeds a couple of people. Hopefully nothing too massive

Can you just use a big saucepan?

Cazpar · 01/04/2024 15:30

Just use a pan or a microwave. No need for a specific gadget, save your money!

A big saucepan with a lid or a big Pyrex casserole with lid for the microwave. Honestly, popcorn is so easy to make.

Had the Von Chef one until it died after 5 or so years of frequent use, then got this one which is still going strong after 5 more years.
Judge popcorn machine

Both fine and easy and safe for dcs to use. Yes you can use a saucepan but this is safer and simpler and it tends to be used by teenagers for late night movie marathons so it’s better to have no chance of being woken by their setting the fire alarm off.

It doesn’t really need any cleaning to speak of because it doesn’t use oil.

I have a silicone thing you shove the kernels in and put in the microwave, it's the easiest thing ever. Think it was a wine-induced Amazon purchase circa 2020.

We just use the microwave popcorn - sweet, sweet n' salty or salty depending on our mood. Our, now adult children, were able to operate the microwave without burning the house down or injuring themselves from about age 9.... No mess, no fuss....

Pollyannamex · 01/04/2024 15:38

A pot and a lid? How could it get any easier…

UnimaginableWindBird · 01/04/2024 15:38

I have the same silicone one as @awakeatnightmare. It takes up virtually no cupboard space and is even less hassle than microwave popcorn in a bag. The instructions say to use oil, but I don't bother.

TheHorneSection · 01/04/2024 15:38

We have the Lakeland one, as we don’t have a microwave - it’s big but easy to clean, we all really like it.

awakeatnightmare · 01/04/2024 15:53

I literally don't even oil it either, you can use as much salt/sugar as you like.

Does that not require oil?
