Does anyone else enjoy Easter far more than Christmas?

I really don’t enjoy Christmas an adult, I find the stress of it all just too much and the frenzied build up starts earlier and earlier every year and by the time the day has arrived I feel like a frazzled mess.

But Easter, I adore, it is far more relaxed, I look forward to this weekend every year.

To quote Ronald Dahl - 'Easter is as lovely as Christmas is horrible'.

Absolutely, he had that spot on.

Yes, me! I love Easter. No pressure, no gift buying (just chocolate eggs!), it's much lighter, warmer, spring is such a hopeful time of year with spring flowers, birds twittering. Easter is my favourite holiday of the year 🐣🐇🌱🌷🐝

I do love the twinkly lights of Christmas but as I’m getting older that really is all I enjoy about it.

Easter is just so much lovelier.

Easter is not a thing for me. Never had been. Christmas though we go all out.

Generally speaking, I get the impression that Easter is a much bigger deal in England than Scotland.

Easter (for us) is just a couple of bank holidays and an Easter egg. Some years we don't get both bank holidays (Scotland).

So I'm Team Xmas

Yeah I'm Scottish and I agree. All the supermarkets you see on TV about making a big roast and stuff...nope! Never known anyone to do that.

I'm not sure I enjoy it more but I thoroughly appreciate it as a chance to relax a bit. When FIL was still alive we always went to visit them over the Easter weekend. The weather always seemed to be lovely and it was back to back National Trust visits and Easter egg hunts.

I wouldn't say so. Easter wasn't really a "thing" when I was growing up. You got an egg, that was about it.

The two bank holidays from work are nice, and I guess it's a nice time of year, the beginning of spring etc.

But I don't go in for all the hype I've seen / heard lately. We don't "decorate" for Easter, with Easter trees etc, and we don't do "Easter presents" which seem to now be a thing.

We just do a very low key egg hunt and enjoy the bank holidays.

You’ve missed the point of the OP- it’s the fact that we don’t need to buy multiple presents, put up decorations etc that makes it a less pressurised time of year, along with the low key egg hunt and enjoying the bank holidays and better weather, as you mention.

It's just a normal Sunday but the kids have chocolate 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes it is

So much fuss....I mean, Easter CRACKERS on the table for what is just a Sunday roast!

SomewhereFarAwayFromThere · 30/03/2024 09:56

No, Easter is a non event for us really, other than there being more chocolate in the house and a few gifts, it’s nothing special.

I love everything about Christmas though, the decorations, lights, we see all of our friends a lot, have lots of nights out, meals, parties, go away with friends for new year etc and I love all the gift buying and opening of presents.

My Mum made a fuss about Easter when I was a kid, I'm sure I remember turkey on Easter Sunday. We don't do anything other than eggs, just enjoy getting extra days off work and an excuse to drink wine because it's Easter!

My mother always preferred Easter - like you she felt more relaxed. I love Christmas - I would probably also love Easter if it was a family occasion but I don't really see them at Easter, so it's just another Sunday, with chocolate 😁.
