Just need a vent really have been here since since 10.45 last night after first calling 111 at 9.30.

I've had nausea pain on the right side of my stomach all week on and off. Yesterday the pain got a lot worse and the right side of my chest started to hurt too. I had thought in was indigestion or something like that and had been taking gaviscon extra. I

DH and I looked on the NHS website yesterday after it became worse and it made me worry about possible appendicitis so I called 111. I spoke to a paramedic there who said it sounded like gallstones so I should go to the UTC.

I really wish I hadn't bothered now, 2 hours to get obs, another hour to get bloods and I still haven't seen a doctor so no idea why I have pain. I may as well have stayed at home and come in first thing, I wouldn't have slept but at least I'd have been able to rest a bit. I think there might be only one doctor on duty.

You're in the right place tho

Wouldn't necessarily have been any faster if you'd come in later today

I suppose on the plus side, if your bloods were alarming, they'd have called you through by now

If you had stayed home you would still have this long wait ahead of you instead of behind you

agree, my dd was 12 hours on a chair in A & E last week, they gave her a blanket and eventually admitted her

how is your pain now?

I know that I was right to come in really, just really tired and fed up. I have just seen the doctor, there was an error with my blood in the lab so they had to retake them- so looks like I'll be here a while longer. She thinks possibly gallstones too, appendix lower than where the pain is.

That's pretty dire. You did the right thing though. Hope you have been seen and are on the way home now.

I was given codine at about 3 so pain bad but manageable now - except when the doctor pressed it!

Ouch!!

But at least s/he was pressing in the right place! Seems like they know where problem is, so a good start!

I was too out of it yesterday to update. So it turns out I have multiple gallstones and an infected gallbladder. Got put on IV antibiotics straight away then the surgical team came to see me. Once the infection is sorted I'll have my gallbladder removed.

Got sent home about lunchtime with loads of medication and morphine for the pain! That knocked me out for the afternoon then I slept for 12 hours. Feel quite sick and achy today and have a horrible headache for some reason but hopefully on the mend.

thanks for the update, glad you are getting the treatment you need

justasking111 · 01/04/2024 00:29

I'm sorry it's awful. Once they get the infection sorted they'll operate.

Biscuitandacuppa · 01/04/2024 00:34

I have had exactly the same experience. I had to wait 4 months for the surgery and followed a gallbladder diet whilst waiting and it did help reduce the attacks.

I had mine out 4 years ago now and it’s been fab, no pain and I can eat what I like! Take the painkillers and rest, keep your fluids up and I hope you feel better soon.
