We're taking the train down (we're in the north) and are going to be staying the Soho area

I'm overwhelmed with the choice so would really appreciate recommendations?

DD has a very good attention span so we would like to take her to the theatre too if we can

Coram’s Fields and the postal museum - both are close to each other and you can go in a little train underground in the museum. Lots of buttons to press and a soft play area. Coram’s fields is a large outdoor play area where adults have to be accompanied by children.

Little Angel puppet theatre in Islington or Unicorn near London Bridge would be good places for theatre.

At this age I liked

The zoo
Postal museum and Coram fields
Fountains at kings Cross
Diana memorial fountain
Transport museum

I think the big museums are a bit much at this age

From soho you can walk down to the river and take the commuter boat over to greenwich. Maritime museum is great for that age, plus right by the park with big playground.

I wouldn't recommend a full musical just yet, it's more than attention span, even Lion King has some iffy bits in it even if she knows the story the lights and music can be scary for little ones

There are often little child friendly shows on though, I believe Enormous Crocodile is on at the moment and the Unicorn Theatre I think is specifically for small children. The royal Albert hall often does event for little ones too which would pair well with visiting the dinosaurs at the NHM.

The Princess Diana Park at Kensington Gardens is amazing, there is some water play so you might want to take a change of clothes too.

Even if she doesn't normally use one if you have a light buggy I would bring that too, sightseeing etc can be very tiring and you can use it to cart lunches etc around too.

London Transport Museum is good for that age group.

She’s going to be too young for any theatre show that’s not specifically for children, I think, although you could try Frozen if it’s still on - they have a buggy park outside so are probably expecting younger children.

You could go to London Zoo, or you could take her to the play park, or you could go to the theatre if there are any kids shows on, or you could take her to the cinema, I know Kung Fu Panda 4 is on in cinemas at the moment.
