Does anyone not have any big plans for the Easter holidays?

DC 12, 13 and 14. All have SN so do not enjoy socialising and will always choose to stay at home if given the option.

They’re too old for soft play, farm parks, zoos and playgrounds. Family walks are deemed lame and pointless. We are bowling later this evening with family but we have no other solid plans and I’m feeling guilt.

Although OTOH, I’m exhausted with life and I cannot be bothered to meet the social media expectations of Easter holiday parenting.

Does anyone else not have any plans
and are feeling fine with it?

I'm working all weekend and am ok with it.

Had hoped to visit my dad at his care home today but they have norovirus so couldn't do that on the one afternoon I had free.

PonyPatter44 · 29/03/2024 17:07

Not doing anything here. DD has plans with her friends, and DP is working all four days. It's going to be awesome....!

mynamechangemyrules · 29/03/2024 17:14

Me, my kids 13/11/7.

I've just bought some Easter eggs and booked a pub lunch for Sunday otherwise it was looking bleak.

Frankly every Sunday as a solo parent is fucking bleak so same old.

Visit mum in care home. Probably watch the rain pissing down. Thats about it

Dsd has severe additional needs, been to feed ducks (bought proper duck food from the concession there!) and going out for fish and chips. As now older there's not really any where else suitable other than the zoo where it is heaving plus they now require us to pay for a special carer card rather than accepting her paperwork from the gp, social services or pip enhanced with severe disability premium or just using their eyes so we don't go to the zoo now (zoo used to be good pre Covid and allowed 2 carers as she requires 2 at all times)

No specific plans at all! Don't can't have children. A long list of things that need doing around the house and garden, but nothing planned.

CeeJay81 · 29/03/2024 17:24

We are almost half way through ours. DH and DS(15) went to the cinema one day and Me and DD(10) did our own day out shopping and to a Cat cafe. DS had to go into school 2 days for coursework and they've both had the odd school friend round but that's about it really. It's actually going to be a fully dry day tomorrow though, so might take DD out to the park or something but haven't got much money to spend, so won't be going anywhere that costs much money the rest of the hols.

WrenNatsworthy · 29/03/2024 17:24

Us! We've got family coming over for a roast on Sunday and that's it.
So many of my friends are making trips on packed motorways to places and I'm happy we're not doing that this year.

gingercat02 · 29/03/2024 17:28

We're just chilling.

DS has GCSE revision, Easter eggs, and lunch on Sunday. I might get in the garden tomorrow for a bit while DH and DS are at the football.
Haircut and a bit of laundry today. Takeaway for tea. There are no plans at all for Monday

Fixesplease · 29/03/2024 17:36

DS is away visiting his grandparents with his dad for the long weekend and I shall be doing absolutely nothing! The rest of the time it'll be mooching about at home with OH works.
Actually really looking forward to the rest!

MuggedByReality · 29/03/2024 17:42

Me. I worked today, and I’m also working on Monday so it’s a normal weekend ahead. All Bank Holidays except Christmas Day are normal working days in our industry.
I have a week off to look forward to in April, though, when everyone else is back at work / school so it’s all good. 😊

edwinbear · 29/03/2024 17:48

We’ve done nothing today, I’m dropping 14yr old DS off at school at 2am tomorrow morning for the school ski trip (so he has something fun planned!). Me, DH and DD will have Easter eggs & a roast on Sunday then DD has an athletics meet on Monday. I love Easter precisely because there is so much less pressure.

Ethnography · 29/03/2024 17:52

DS 15 is away abroad playing his sport until Tuesday. Then he really should be doing GCSE revision when he gets home. DH has just set off for an overnight trip as he wants to do additional coaching qualifications in his sport. DD 14 had her friend leave a few mins ago after a sleepover. I've been gardening.
Absolutely no other plans. Might go do the village Easter egg hunt on Sunday. DD won't be out of bed so she won't join me.

RedRobyn2021 · 29/03/2024 17:58

I know what you mean, I cba with going busy places either

DD is only 3, we went for a nice walk with our dog, but if lunch and came home and had a quiet afternoon mowing the lawn and pottering

MatterNot · 29/03/2024 18:02

This is the first Easter in a while that we’re not going away somewhere UK based. It’s actually quite nice having nothing planned and just going day by day.

Notamaterlistictypeofwoman · 01/04/2024 18:25

It's nice to have family/friends around ,or to be able to afford to go on holiday or places.I can't afford to go anywhere this Easter, also the weather was shit to go out .DS is 3 he doesn't need a bunch of Easter eggs, Bunnies don't even lay eggs , especially chocolate ones 🤣.He doesn't fully understand the whole festive seasons he has SEN,but I did by him a smarties Easter eggs which we shared and ordered pizza as a treat.

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 01/04/2024 18:34

We've had a great few days over the weekend but for the next 2 weeks:

DS 15 is studying, going to Easter school or tutorials.

DD11 will go out to play with her friends.

DH and I both wfh.
