You'll have to put up with it or leave unfortunately.

DinnaeFashYersel · 29/03/2024 06:42

I don't think you take it higher unless 1. You have asked your boss directly if you can have some of the other (nice) duties and 2. you are prepared for your working life to get worse and feel more uncomfortable as this is the kind of thing that often happens, especially in a small cliquey firm like yours.
Lots of things unfair - my work has had no pay rise for 20 years but it won't change as that is the entire industry - and we have to make decisions about we will and won't put up with. Hours and days etc is a big factor for most people. Do you answer the phone or have to talk to colleagues? If not, can you listen to an audiobook or radio on bluetooth earphones whilst you work?

That's a great idea I can wear headphones and switch off I guess thanks for your reply ..I will try wearing headphones today or part of the day don't want to completely cut ppl off but a few hours may just make things easier...guess this is work life

Take it higher where? If there’s a “big boss” at the company he or she may be open to making some changes in the name of employee morale. But if you’re talking about some kind of external or legal authority you have no case. You are being treated unfairly but nothing you’ve described is illegal (unless there’s a lot more to the story).

I guess I just need to speak to my boss he may be understanding and make things fairer

I think I'd say something, but be prepared to not like the answer and leave - that's if you're happy to.

I've recently worked somewhere where I was treated differently, I raised it and my boss made excuse after excuse. So I decided I needed to maybe value myself if she didn't. I now have a new job where I feel appreciated and part of a team!
