Walking/ Desk Treadmills?

I’m suffering from lower back problems yet again and this can’t be my life (I’ve had all the painkillers and muscle relaxers this week).

I've been looking into walking treadmills. Does anyone have one?

I don’t quite know how it would work when typing. I’m working full time and studying in my spare time and have a family. I try to move, but it’s impossible when work just has to be done. I have a sitting/ standing desk at work. When I get home and have finished studying and with the family, I’m so tired that I just sit.

I wondered whether it would be good to have while watching the tv, but I imagine it would be distracting for others (plus noise).

It has to be low impact and I can’t think of anything else…

Any advice?

I have just got a sit/ stand desk from IKEA, as they are on offer as they are stopping selling them and want to get a walking pad. I've seen some on Amazon, I'll probably get one of those. I want one that's lightweight to be moved around.

I had one and hated it. The noise was irritating to the point of making me angry and I just could not type nor read while walking.

Have you tried taking up swimming? I used to go for an evening swim most nights when recovering from an op and it was lovely.

I'm debating one. Looking at the Just Stand charity, it is scary how bad sitting all day is. I really need to sort out my days, and incorporate more standing / walking. I do an hour of exercise 6 days a week but it won't counter sitting all day. All my joints hurt now. My thighs ache.

I’m looking at the walking pad a1 pro - seems to be the quietest. Just for walking, though. Other models are for running.

At the moment, I just struggle for time - work/study/ family. I need to do more than short bursts of exercise. I have a beautiful walk near me - and up and down hill, but I just can’t find the hour in my day to do it. It will be better when my studies finish, but that’s another 3 years (part time).

I imagine something gentle, but consistent would be better than the short bursts that I do.

Do they have to be far away from the wall (like running ones). I have a small office with not much space. I was hoping slower speeds would be ok to have just a little gap behind me.

I've often thought a treadle powered computer would be great for exercise, didn't realise someone had made one! https://scoraigwind.co.uk/2010/07/treadle-powered-computer/

Im looking to get one. Have been eyeing up walking pad C1. Also very tiny room though so don’t know if I’m being silly and it would cause issues? Have also read a mat under it helps with noise.

Where have you seen the c1? I was looking for that, but only found the options on A1 pro and r1pro (plus more expensive).

Although the above are newer versions, reviews seem to think the c1 is quietest.

I have to do something. The only thing that pushes me towards the R1 is that it can be used for running as well (in the future or for others).

I meant to say c2 which I’ve seen on Amazon (and is apparently quieter than c1!).

issue is it’s £390 and from reviews after Black Friday I can see they dropped it all the way down to £150 at some point so I’m putting off buying it until it drops again to around £200 but it might not do!

Boyfriend keeps finding ones for around £200 and pointing them out but for some reason I’ve got my trust in the walking pad.

only catch is walking pad one is 100kg limit and boyfriend has now decided he wants to use it and he’s just on the cusp of 100kg. I have tried telling him that should be motivation to slim down a little and that didn’t go down well haha.
